Zara – Emma – Maddy and Gray were now at the petting zoo an area where the baby dinosaurs were raised before being placed in their respective enclosures. Children were happy because they could pet baby Gallimimuses – cradle baby Apatosauruses and baby Brachiosauruses ... But the most popular activity was riding the back of a baby Triceratops as if it was a poney. Gray was very satisfied unlike Maddy and Emma who got a little bored.
« We could go to see big dinosaurs at the tree climbing attraction. » Zara said. « Yeah. Why not. » Emma and Maddy said in unison. « Gray come here ! » Emma said. Gray ran towards them. The four then boarded wagons which would allow them to see small-sized dinosaurs from a safe distance.
On the left of the wagons were dinosaurs called Hypsilophodon – bipedal dinosaurs about 2 meters long sporting a green color with black stripes. Most of them were sleeping while others were watching the train curiously. Maddy and Gray started taking photographs – followed by the other tourists on the ride while Zara kept talking about her wedding on her phone and Emma kept staring at pictures on hers.
In the next enclosure Maddy and Gray could see similar-looking herbivorous dinosaurs. « What the hell are they ? Other guys ? » Maddy asked. « No they aren't. They're Othnielias flanked with Dryosauruses. » Gray answered. And he was right. These Othnielas sported a brown color with white stripes and a blue head while the Dryosauruses were brown with large white dots. But both were sleeping. « Pff... They're sleeping ! » Gray moaned. « Better luck next time ! » Maddy said jokingly.
At the next stop everyone saw a board on which were writen the following words :
MUSSAURUS.
Warning : DO NOT FEED THIS SPECIES. YOU MAY BE INJURED.
On the other side of the river – everyone saw six dinosaurs which were 3 meters long eating into their respective feeder while two other ones were drinking in the river. But – as stated by the warning board – the wagon had to roll at a safe distance from the dinosaurs.
Maddy and Gray didn't stop taking photographs. The wagon then rolled into some cave which led to the Microceratus enclosure. These animals were orange with yellow stripes and looked like hornless mini-sized Triceratopses.
« Hey Maddy ! Look ! Aren't they too cute ? » Gray asked. « Surely. But not as cute as my bro or the family's dog. » Maddy sarcasticly replied.
The joyride rolled down a slope and visitors ended up being splashed. Zara hid her phone at the right time. Now Maddy, Emma and Gray were much busier watching the animals. The siblings and Maddy then spotted a group of Protarcheopteryxes and Vegavises. « When I told you dinosaurs were birds – Emma ! » Gray said. « I owe you one. » his older sister answered. The Vegavises were very similar to 21st century ducks and they had the same behavior.
Finally – they exited the wagon when it stopped at the starting point so another group of tourists could board it.
Right at the time they exited – Gray ran towards a guide who was giving directions at the zoologic trail. « Hurry up Emma ! Hurry up Maddy ! » Gray said pulling Maddy with her hand and pulling Emma with her sleeve. « Calm down Gray ! » Emma replied. Zara followed as she listened to her phone. In the paddock were small green-feathered chicken-sized dinosaurs named Compsognathus.
« Wow ! The dinos are feathered. » Gray exclaimed. « Indeed, the guide said. Our genicists wanted to depict them as close to the nowaday theories as possible. By the way – do you want to feed the compies ? », « Yes – Miss. » Gray answered. « The compies are voracious. They don't hesitate to bite anything that seems dead. Usually we feed them with rosbiff meat. But today YOU will feed them with a chunk of steak. » she said Gray.
The guide then gave the said chunk of steak. « At three – you throw the chunk. », « OK. », « Alright kids. 1...2...3 ! ». The children counted aloud altogether as Gray fed the compies with the chunk of meat. Once it landed on the ground – the compies ate it in no time. « Now you know birds and dinosaurs are closely related and the feather proves it. You won't be looking at birds the same way. » the guide said.
Next to the Compsognathus enclosure was a birdcage. « Maddy ! Emma ! Look ! Archeopteryxes ! They were considered the earliest birds in history ! » Gray said. « Wow ! Birds with teeth and claws ! They growl ! I love it ! » Emma answered. « I'm now convinced that birds and dinosaurs are relatives. » Maddy said. « Alright. Let's get in. There are other species in there. ». That's how the quartet entered in the birdcage.
Meanwhile – Drs. Carter and Guitterez gave Admiral Shane another intel from the three eyewitnesses' story. It was very worrying since Admiral Shane now knew it was now a disease he would have to face. Good news were that the two scientists developped an vaccine with the help of the USAMRIID and the WHO via videoconferencing. « DEFCON 3 scale ! I want everyone on full alert ! » Shane ordered.
