Chapter 45 : Plan executed

Several hours have passed as the operation was being prepared. The sound of the insects and the fresh air were acting as a background. Lots of people were gathred around the raptor holding pen. Dozens of ACU and InGen operatives were prepping the raptors and the vehicles that would be involved in the operation. A truck with a trailer was parked outside of the pen. Around it were dozens of other vehicles ; SUVs – a mobile veterinary unit – ATVs and motorcycles intended for the operatives to get close to the torvosauruses.

Masrani had stayed in the control room to oversee the operation. Claire – Emmalin – Gray and Maddy then linked up with Owen and Maisie. Gray was better but still tired. This didn't prevent him from being fascinated by dinosaurs. After a short dialog with the children – Owen and Maisie joined Barry to take care of the raptors.

Because of the events of the day – Claire hair was now in total disorder as she approached Owen to talk to him. « So the two of you spen most of your time with them right ? », « Yes. If there are people who understand me – apart from Maisie – it's these six. », « Owen. Maisie. I gotta say that I'm really sorry for what I told you. », « You were doing your job like Owen was doing his. », « That's funny. You call us Owen and Maisie now. Congratulations. ».

Then Hoskins approached an operative checking cameras fixed on the raptors' neck via a tablet. « Any problem ? », « No chief. », « Right. Let's do a makeshift test. ». The operative then turned the tablet on as Hoskins looked at the camera waving his hand. « Perfect. », « OK. Let's hope it works. ». Just then Charlie angrily growled. « Barry please. Could you tell me what's happening ? », « They don't know you Vic. », « They don't know you and therefore don't trust you. ». Then Owen began to talk. « That's why I think the op is gonnna fail. I know you wanna save your reputation with Masrani. But it's a very complex op. And I didn't suggest it. Alright ? », « Got it. But if we focused on the operation would you ? », « Yes. ».

Owen then entered a big hangar followed by Barry and Hoskins to brief the operators.

Owen then briefed everyone over the situation with a large map of Isla Nublar. « Last time we got a signal from the torvosauruses – they were here. Before setting off – the control room will turn loudspeakers on. And they're going to turn on torvosauruses sound to attract the dinos for us. Hoskins will give the signal from the control room. I will lead the charge. Once we're around 200 meters from the torvosauruses – you will open the doors of the truck. And once my raptors attack – you will kill the big dinos without getting close. And please. Don't kill my animals. Any question ? », « What will we do after killling the theropods ? », « A decontamination team will burn the bodies. May the world know how dangerous it is to resurect extinct creatures. Any other question ? ». Everyone shook his head.

And Hoskins drove back to the control room after drinking some alcohol. In the meantime – Claire helped her nephews and Maddy to get in the veterinary truck and told them what to do if there was a problem before sitting in the driver's seat. Then Gray began talking with Maddy. « Hey Maddy. », « What Gray ? », « I heard your father talking with my aunt's boss. He was angry. », « Yeah. He thinks human life is more important than profit or taking a hill. He's willing to take the blame for disobeying a direct order. », « Can we talk about something else ? », « Yes. Why ? », « See these two stars up there ? », « Yes. And ? », « Maybe it's for our friendship. », « Could be ».

For what was the preparation of the operation – Owen caged the raptors before putting these in a transport truck. All this thanks to his clicker.

Some times later – Hoskins was in the control room ready to give the signal. Masrani then turned to Lowery. « Is everything ready ? », « Yes it is. When you want Lowery. », « Let's go. I'm turning the torvosaurus sound on. », « OK croc. It's a go. ».

Just as Hoskins said 'go' – Owen started his motorcycle and ordered to the rest of the team to get their engine started. He then rolled on the trail followed by Barry and the team tasked with killing the sick torvosauruses through the jungle. The truck then parked on the road in a way that made the exit easier for the velociraptors. Every operative then turned his laser sight on to aim the torvosauruses.

Owen then looked at the area neighbouring Jurassic World City with binoculars and saw the torvosauruses trying to communicate with a notional fellow animal. Owen then told the operators to release the raptors. But they didn't run on a long distance.

After only a few meters – the raptors stopped and communicated. Barry then wondered what was happening. « There's a problem. They're communicating. », « All of my warnings have been in vain. They want to go into the jungle. ». The six animals then turned to the humans before hissing at them and running away.

Seeing all this – the control room staff were baffled. Then Masrani reacted. « Tell your men to catch them. », « Throw smokes ». But Owen heard this order and yelled. « NO ! They will see us as a threat. ». But too late and a mist appeared in the jungle. The operatives decided to chase the raptors. Barry and Owen parted ways to find them.

But as the operatives tracked the raptors – they suddenly got attacked by angry raptors which didn't want to loose their freedom.

One by one – the operators were caught from behind and dragged into the bushes and finished by raptors which did not even hesitate to drag the injured men to kill them before tearing their bodies to shreds in the long grass. Nobody could bear it in the control room and Vivian hid her eyes not to see the horrors of the men being torn apart.

As Barry Sembène – a french animal handler from African origin who worked with Owen for years after meeting the latter in France to oversee the release of bear and wolves in the Pyrennees was walking in the night – he saw blue-colored feather and knew Blue would be somewhere. Just as he stood up – the raptor jumped from nowhere. Barry hid in a hollow log and took his revolver out. But Blue wanted to kill him for lunch and jumped on the log at the same time before caving a big hole into it. « BLUE ! It's me ! Blue stop ! » he yelled. He was right to insist as the dinosaur recognized the man who stood near her everyday before leaving. Barry then put his gun down and brushed away the feather that fell on him.

Owen was rolling through the jungle on his motorcycle when he stumbled upon Charlie eating a ACU operative. Hearing the vehicle – she her head before Owen darted into the jungle followed by Charlie.
