It was officially the big countdown to the wedding. Over the last 2 months, I had become an stressed out self confessed bridezilla. I was scared about my weight, the dress, the cake, the food, the weather, you name it, I stressed about it.
A couple of days before the wedding, I received a strange envelope in the mail. I hadn't mentioned it to Q, wanting to wait until the Bella was off at school and Henry was occupied with toys.
"So this came today?" I announced as we had our normal 9am peaceful coffee moment.
"An envelope?" He asked with a smile.
"Yes, a very shady one, don't you think?"
"It's an envelope Apps, just open it, it's probably to do with fucking taxes" he winked.
Rolling my eyes at him, I carefully opened the letter and pulled out the first thing.
"What is it?" Q asked.
"It's a newspaper clipping from yesterday. Russian ex diplomat Karzhov Vaniamin found dead under pier in Jersey" I read the headline.
"Two ago, walkers found the body of a unidentified man under the Jersey pier. Upon a autopsy, the identity was confirmed of one Karzhov Vaniamin, a Russian diplomat and suspected KGB officer during the cold war. Case of death is said to be battery and gun shot before being thrown into the ocean. Local and national police are looking for anyone who may have any further information, but so far, no evidence has been found" I carried on reading the rest of article before looking back at Q dumbfounded.
"Well shit" he gulped.
"I can't believe we didn't hear about it. It wasn't even in the news on tv".
"What else is in the envelope?" Q asked.
Slowly, I pulled out what looked to be an old wedding veil, white with incredibly detailed lacing and pearls. There was also another note.
"Two wedding gifts for you kiddo. I ended up with some of your parents stuff and figured this is more use to you than me. All the best. D" Q read out as I looked over the veil.
"This is my mom's?" I gasped as an instantly want to cry took over.
"Seems like it. Fuck this is crazy. I mean, it's fucking great, everything is just... it's perfect" Q laughed in disbelief.
I went silent for a moment, looking over the veil still, for the first time in my life, I had something of my mom's, something that would connect us together.
"I'm gonna need some waterproof mascra" I cried with a laugh and I leaned into Q and reached up for a kiss.

"Oh shit, it's not zipping up is it. I knew this would happen, I fucking told Q I shouldn't have had the burger last night" I began to cry and Zoe and Kate helped me into my dress.
"Jesus Apps, relax, the dress is going up fine" Kate chuckled.
"Here, have a drink" Q's mom smiled and passed me another glass of champagne.
We were to become husband and wife at the Boat House in Central Park. The entire day was planned to have a relaxed feel, no mad decorations or huge puffy dress. Just close friends, family, good food and lots of drinks.

"
I'm going to be sick, what if I forget my vows. Oh shit shit shit" I continued to panic.
"You wanna see Q, maybe take some of the pressure off?" Bessie nervously suggested.
"Ahh no, I don't need any potential bad luck, just... get me another one of those little toasted bun things" I sighed.
An hour later I was ready as stood looking at my reflection in the mirror.
"May I put your veil on?" Carol asked as she stood behind me as folded a piece of hair away.
"I wouldn't want anyone else doing it" I smiled.
Watching her place the veil on my head was more emotional than I'd imagined. Seeing the outfit all together, I officially looked like a bride.
We had a wedding car arranged at the hotel, and when we arrived at the venue everyone was waiting for my entrance.
Jorma had agreed to walk me down the aisle, if it hadn't of.been for him I would have never made it in this city, and he was almost like a brother to me now.
"You ready?" Jorma asked as he linked my arm.
"Hell yeah" I smiled as the song, somewhere over the rainbow began to play and the door opened up in front of us.
