Chapter 12 - Discussion

Reaching the fifth floor, Gidget felt for certain that no one was going to come stop her and start asking questions. However, she jinxed herself as she ran smack dab into Max. The terrier had just walked out of his apartment to go talk to her. Luckily for him, he didn't have to go very far. Unfortunately for Gidget, she didn't want to chat with anyone, especially with Max at the moment. She went to go around him.

"Gidget, wait!" Max cried, getting in her way. Thinking quickly, he added, "Sit!" He received a glare from Gidget as she obeyed, remembering her training. "What do you want?" she grumbled, turning her head away. Approaching the Pomeranian cautiously, Max reached out for her paw but she moved it away. Sighing, he mumbled, "Gidget, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I didn't even know what was going on. I felt like I was under a spell or something."

"Right, a spell or something..." Gidget murmured skeptically.

"I'm not making this up!" Max insisted. Sitting down beside Gidget, he reassured her gently, "Trust me, you'll never see that dog ever again. Cuz I love you."

"Really?"

"I promise, I will never leave you for some other dog."

Hearing the sincerity in Max's voice made Gidget's heart beat faster. She believed every word he was saying. Tail wagging, she nuzzled him as she whispered, "I love you too."

"You wanna do something after I get back from the dog walk?" Max asked. Gidget nodded her head. Smiling, the terrier licked her cheek as he replied, "Alright, we'll go to Pet Palace and grab a bite to eat."

"That sounds lovely," a strange voice spoke. Max and Gidget whipped around to find the female Jack Russell terrier climbing up the fire escape...
