"I missed you so much Gidget," Max whispered in between licks as he groomed the top of her head. The two dogs were laying on the couch. Eyes closed as she sighed happily, Gidget spoke softly, "I missed you too baby." She gently rested her head on his furry chest as she felt his tongue run over her fur.

After the meeting a little over a week ago, everything fell back into routine. Gidget began spending more time with Max again while the Jack Russell terrier had been welcomed back by everyone. Chloe was still raiding refrigerators, Norman had gotten lost again and Snowball was currently wondering where the heck Ozone disappeared to. The leader of the Alley Cats seemed to have vanished into thin air. Other than that, everything was okay.

Her head pressed up against Max's chest, Gidget listened to his beating heart. For some reason, it felt different. She used to love listening to Max's heartbeat. But now, it didn't seem to have as much effect as it did before. It also felt weird whenever they hugged or kissed each other. Everything, for some reason, felt wrong now. Sighing softly, Gidget opened her sky blue eyes.

"Are you okay Gidget?" Max asked quietly, stopping so he could look the fluffy white Pomeranian in the eye. Meeting his gaze, Gidget couldn't help but notice how the special sparkle in his eyes wasn't doing anything to make her heart beat faster. Nevertheless, she nuzzled her boyfriend as she answered, "I'm okay." Truthfully though, she felt like there was something missing...
