(A/N - This was a toughie to write. Sorry its so boring, it was more of a filler chapter than anything. I know exactly whats going to happen in the next chapter but I needed to add this chapter to tie things together. Bare with me guys, I know i'm not updating as quickly as I did in the summer. So much school work! I'll try to have the next chapter up by Monday. Make sure to keep voting & commenting! Follow me on twitter @maiamitchell1 ! - S)
Maia woke up to the feeling of her puppy licking her face. “Sadie!” Maia exclaimed, moving her hand up to pet her. “You always wake me up,” she complained. As she continued to pet Sadie, her mind wondered back to the day previous. She thought about the delicious dinner David cooked and their wonderful time in the water. She thought back to falling asleep on the beach and waking up while David was bringing her into her room. She felt his strong arms around her tiny fragile body has he carried her to her bed. She remembered him kissing her on the forehead lightly enough to make her heart flutter. She bit her lip as she remembered him whispering about himself falling in love with her. Her heart started pounding in the confinement of her chest as word love echoed through her brain. He’s falling in love with me, she thought to herself. She could barely believe it. Sure, people have loved her in her twenty-one years on this earth. However, very few were actually in love with her.
She was ripped out of her thoughts as she heard a clinking coming from the kitchen. She looked at Sadie, confused. She slowly got out of bed and pulled a red and black flannel over her shoulders. She grabbed a baseball bat she kept in her room in case someone broke in and slowly walked out. She crept out on her tip toes as she made her way down the hallway. She gulped before she took another step into the kitchen. She looked around but saw no one; sure that the sound came from here. Someone tapped her shoulder from behind and she turned around swiftly; hitting the intruder with the baseball bat in the groin. The man let out a loud groan as he fell to the floor in agony. Maia looked down to see who it was and she saw a familiar face.
“David?!” She asked as she grabbed a back of ice from her freezer and handed it to him. “Oh gosh, I’m so sorry. I thought you were a robber or something, I didn’t mean to hurt you,” she flushed. She watched as he placed the cold ice pack on his groin and winced. “Does it hurt?”
“Getting hit in the balls with a metal baseball bat? Yeah, it hurts,” David came back in a rude tone.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean too,” Maia re-enforced. She felt really really bad for hurting David. She bit her lip.
“It’s okay, babe. It’ll feel better in a minute or two. Can you turn off the burner?” He asked, pointing to the stove. “I came in early this morning to make you breakfast before work.”
Maia nodded and got up, taking the food off the stove and turning it off. “Thank you. And sorry again for all of this,” she repeated, holding her hand out to help him up. She walked him over to the kitchen table and made him sit down. She got out two plates and put an equal amount of pancakes, bacon and eggs on each plate. She also got two glasses of water. “I have the best boyfriend. This is amazing,” she said as she dug into the food.
“I just wanted to continue some of the romance from our date yesterday,” he smiled, eating a piece of Bacon while glancing at Maia.
“About that… how exactly did I get home? The last thing I remember is falling asleep in your arms,” she lied.
“After you fell asleep, I drove you and Sadie back home and put you in bed. I gave some food to Sadie too because it looked like she had none left,” he explained to her, leaving out what he told her. He didn’t want her to know that yet.
