* PART TWO *

                Maia sits in her seat in the airplane peacefully; listening to music. She couldn’t decide on which genre of music she felt like listening to at the moment so she settled on Birdy. The plane only took off moments ago and people were still finding their way to their seats. Luckily, no one has sat beside her yet. To ensure a flight of sitting alone, she put her feet over the seat beside her and leaned the side of her head against the window. She looked out the window as the plane continued rapidly drifting higher and higher into the sky. She watched as people turned into little specks, houses turned into dots and cities turned into small circles.

                An airport attendant came around the section of her plane to give everyone free snacks and ask for drink orders. Maia ordered a pop and took the free snacks. She got a tiny bag of chips and chocolate bar. She started munching into them while listening to her music. Her phone fell upon a rather sad song that reminded her of David. She felt a pang of sadness and decided to change the song to keep her from thinking about him. She began to listen to more upbeat songs to brighten her mood. Despite all of her efforts; she let herself think back to the times she spent with David. She missed the way he would always brush her hair away from her face and kiss her forehead. While thinking of the memory, she touched her forehead lightly. She still found it crazy that she and him got together in the first place. It was such an out of the picture idea. Her and David were too good to be true. I guess, even know, that stood through.

                Maia was looking out of the window when she caught a slim figure moving in her peripheral vision. She knew there were still a few individuals finding their way to their proper seat even after take-off, but something about the person made her look more closely. The man was facing the opposite direction from her as if he was looking for someone specific. Maia noticed the way his cheekbones gave a perfect shadow just like David’s did. As she analyzed him further, she realized he could be David’s twin. As soon as the figure turned around and faced her; her jaw dropped open. It was him. It was really, really him. David came back for her.

                Maia stood up from her seat and began to walk quickly to him. Once she was half way down the aisle to him, he noticed her. A huge smile developed on his face as he took a few strides forward to meet her and envelope her in a hug. He held her closely to him as did she. Maia buried her head in the crook of his neck, taking in his scent. They stood like this for a few more moments. Afterwards, they pulled away from each other.

                “…David? I can’t believe you actually came,” Maia said as she tried to choke back tears. She was so happy he came back for her.  She rested her hands around his neck; refusing to separate from him.

                “As soon as I got your note I drove as quickly as I could to the airport. I bought a ticket and ran onto the flight. I got held up and had to sit near the front of the plane during take-off. I couldn’t possibly let you go without saying goodbye. Or even let you go in general,” he explained. He kissed her forehead lightly causing Maia to blush.

                Maia thought this was too good to be true. She couldn’t believe he actually came back for her. It was so surreal. She let a few tears slip out of her eyes because she was so damn happy. She leaned up to press her lips against his, but as soon as her lips were an inch away from his; darkness took over.
