Maia woke up with the bright light of the morning shining through David’s bedroom window. She yawned against David’s chest before looking up at him. He looked so peaceful while he was asleep. Maia tilted her head up to kiss David’s cheek lightly; waking him up.

“Good morning, Maia,” he whispered. He yawned rather loudly than huffed, pulling the covers up to his chest. “It’s too early to be awake.”

Maia looked over at the clock which read 10:37am. “It’s half past 10! This is the latest I’ve slept in a while,” she admitted.

“That’s good, at least. How did you sleep?” He asked her.

“Really good, I mean, I was in your arms the entire time,” she spoke, blushing. She rested her head against his chest again to enforce her words.

“I could get used to that,” he hinted. He looked down at her and admired her natural beauty. He didn’t fully understand why she wore makeup. She was completely gorgeous without it. Her eyes sparkled like a million stars in the darkest of nights. “You look so beautiful.”

Maia blushed again. She buried her face in the crook of his neck; embarrassed. “Stop, I’m not.”

David tilted her chin so she was looking up at him. “You are. I wouldn’t lie. You deserve to be reminded about how beautiful you are each and every day.”

“I love you,” she tested out. Now that their feelings were out in the open, she should get used to saying this frequently.

“I love you, too,” he replied. “Now, we need to get ready so we’re not late to meet your family.”

“Right, um, I don’t have any clothes here so I guess I’ll have to drive home to get some.”

“My sister leaves some here when she stays over. You can go through her clothes and pick something, she won’t mind. Her room is next to mine,” David offered, smiling.

Maia nodded then walked out of the room and into hers. She stifled through the clothes and decided upon a pair of high waisted jeans and a plain black crop top. She walked back into David’s room. He was wearing a nice pair of dark jeans and a black tee shirt. “I don’t have any makeup here, so please don’t make fun of me.”

“Why would I make fun of you?” He asked, walking towards her. He wrapped his arms around her hips and pulled her close to him. “You look perfect without makeup.”

Maia leaned up and kissed his lips softly. She pulled away slowly and walked over to his dresser. She grabbed the flannel she wore to bed and put it on. “Does this look good?”

“It does. We should get going now,” he reminded her. As they were about to walk out the door, Maia got a text from her mom.

“My mom says that Charlie really wants to go to the park so she suggested a picnic. Is that alright?” Maia asked after reading the text.

“Yep. Do we need to pick up some food at the store?” David asked.

“Probably. Let’s go, they said they’ll be at the park in a half hour.” Maia followed David out of his house and watched him lock it before running into his car.
