(A/N - WHAT? I'M UPDATING? Same. About an hour ago I got tired of not writing and decided hey; lets write the damn sequel! This isn't very well written, or very long, as I'm still struggling to come up with what I want to happen or the direction this is going to take. As you guys know, the more votes, reads and comments influence me to update quicker. In this case - I won't update until it reaches 200 reads, 25 votes and 15 comments. Thanks, guys. -S)

David was sitting on a tall stool in a dark, crowded bar. At this point, he wasn’t sure how many drinks he has had. He didn’t really care about the matter. He felt the sensation of the cold liquid burning his throat as the alcohol entered his blood stream to help him forget. Help him forget her.

He looked around the room and noticed the heavy scent of alcohol and smoke mixed together. He saw all of the drunken couples dancing against each other to the fast beat of whichever song was playing. He never really did like this type of music. He much preferred slower, softer music. He loved being able to identify a piece of instrumental music that he understood the meaning to, and learn how to play it beautifully on the piano. He found, however, he could not play the piano very beautifully anymore. It seems that he has lost his muse.

He drank more and more, until he couldn’t think straight. He noticed a short brunette staring at him from the corner of the room. Maia? he thought. He shook his head and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he noticed that the girl had no resemblance to Maia. His mind would constantly mess with him, especially when he was far gone.

He missed her. Oh god, did he miss her. He missed the feeling of her soft hair when he would run his fingers through it in the morning. He missed the way she would look at him in such a loving way. He regretted any moment he didn’t spend with her and the time where they weren’t together. All he could ask for these days was another moment with her. As much as he wishes he could have her forever, he knew forever didn’t mean a thing. He knew if he had the chance, all he needed was five more seconds. To tell her how sorry he was. That he loved her.

He decided to let his mind fade back to that night. He refused to let himself think about it for any longer than he had to. It caused him too much pain. Maybe he didn’t let his mind think about it, maybe it was the alcohol taking control over his body. But what happened was something he would never be able to forget, no matter how much he wanted to.

He ran out of the room with tears streaking down his face. He couldn’t believe that she was gone. He would never get the chance to say he loved her again or ever get the chance to hear her say it back. He ran down the hospital hallway and didn’t care who was watching him. He had to get out of here. He moved down the stairs as quickly as he could and pushed his way outside. He breathed in the open air which made him cry. Maia would never get to go outside again and soak up the sun. She would never get to see her family again.

David walked to the small green area across from the hospital and sat down against a large green tree. He pulled his knees to his chest and began to sob violently. He didn’t care who heard. He just lost the one person whom he cared about the most. He figured it was a good enough reason to cry. He wasn’t sure how he was going to live without her. Being without Maia seemed like such an impossible nightmare to him. Now he was living that nightmare.

He continued to cry, not only for Maia, but for her family. After all, they had known her for quite longer than he has. He felt a pang of regret from running out of the hospital like that and leaving her family to themselves. They probably needed someone else there. He slowly shook his head, coming to the conclusion that they may want to be on their own to grieve their daughter – and he needed to be on his own to grieve his girlfriend.

He saw a man walk out of the hospital with puffy red eyes – much like his. He wondered who he just lost. The man looked around and eventually landed his eyes on David. He approached him.

                “David?” The unfamiliar man asked.

“Yes?” David croaked. He was surprised he could bring himself to simply talk.

“I’m Emerson, I am good friend of Maia’s. Or was. Anyways, you need to come inside. Something has happened,” he explained. David didn’t let him finish by the time he stood up and rushed back into the hospital. He had never run so quickly in his whole life. He finally reached Maia’s hospital room. He slowly walked in, scared about what the news is.

“Alright, now that everyone is here. We have some good news and some bad. Which, based off what just happened, I foresee the good news will out weight any bad,” the doctor started. “Maia was dead for officially three minutes and fifty six seconds. At that point, against all odds, we got her heart to beat again.”

David let out a breath he was unaware he was holding. She’s alive he thought. “When can we see her?” he pushed.

“That’s where the bad news comes in. Although we could get her heart to begin functioning again, there were still other problems. Due to the lack of oxygen in her brain while she was officially dead, she is now in a Coma. Unfortunately, we have no idea when or if she will awaken. Right now, what’s important is that she’s still with us. If you would like to come with me, you can see her. She needs people she cares about right now. It’s said those in a coma can hear what’s around them so it’s suggested she frequently has someone talking to her. It’s partially up to her whether she wakes up or not.”

David stood up from the bar stool when the memory faded. This was too much for him. He needed her to wake up. He couldn’t stand this any longer. He rushed out of the bar and walked home. He refused to ever drive when he was intoxicated because of what happened to Maia. Not even just when he is intoxicated has he chosen not to drive. It seems he has grown into an irrational fear of cars because of what happened to her.

David stopped at the corner store to grab a chocolate bar and some chips. He could barely count out the proper amount of money he was so wasted. He found his way home and he unlocked the door. His house was a complete mess. He hadn’t cleaned it since he came back from Australia. He really didn’t care about cleaning – or anything, really. He hated how much of a mess he had become but he didn’t know how else to deal with it. If he didn’t let himself care about anything, he couldn’t be hurt again.

He sat on his couch and turned on the TV for a moment. He began to snack on the chocolate bar. For some reason, that always sobered him up. He watched random late-night cartoons for a few more minutes before he walked up to his bedroom. He took his clothes off and changed into his pajamas. He grabbed something from his dresser and walked over to his bed; lying down on it. He sighed and pulled the covers over him. He pulled his most treasured item out of his hand and lied it on the table beside his bed, and opened the lid. Even in the darkness, he could see the diamonds sparkling. He could almost hear it scream Maia’s name.
