My birthday soon rolled around, and boy was it an eventful day.
The night before Taylyn stopped at my apartment. We hadn't seen each other in a while, mainly because she'd been in New York with her father who'd realised it was better if he actually paid attention to his daughter.
No shade.
But anyway, Taylyn and I spent the night in face masks, dressing gowns and watching Riverdale.
We spoke about some important topics, like all of the drama surrounding her and the boys. She'd told me that her date with Aiden went well, he was so sweet. But for Taylyn, he wasn't right. Taylyn needs someone less innocent, and more lively. Then there's Daniel, he is exactly that, but he's a bit of a prick and doesn't understand that one woman is enough. As her best friend, I won't let her be hurt.
Finally there's my brother, who I think is perfect for her. They both just need to grow some balls and get together. Callum's scared that Taylyn's too good for him, and Taylyn's scared of getting hurt in general, and then it being awkward between us too. I told her it would never happen, because our friendship is stronger than that.
That led onto a conversation about our friendship, a proper heart to heart one. Taylyn told me that she'd never had a friend like me in her life, and that she's so grateful to have someone that understands her. I said the same back but added that I'm grateful to have her, when she understands what I've been through.
It was quite the emotional talk but at least what we got out of it was that Taylyn and I are going to be best friends forever.
I might even marry her.
By morning, we'd both got our shit back together, and were literally prancing about to music and being excited because it was my birthday.
It had rolled around once again, and I swear my life is flashing before my eyes. Every year is going so quick.
We decided to save presents from her until later, as I was going to leave her for an hour and go out for breakfast with my parents. They came to my house first though, and gave me my present.
Now this is where shit gets crazy.
Now I'm back from breakfast, and Zoe, Alf, Taylyn and are I are all thinking the same thing; why has Ian sent me flowers for my birthday?
I haven't spoken to him since our breakup, so our vow to stay friends was bullshit. He hasn't made an effort to reach out to me so I haven't back.
I have had contact with James a few times, he still comments on every single one of my Instagram posts, and always finds something to pop up on my Snapchat story for. James has never mentioned Ian to me since, I guess he just doesn't want to make it awkward.
So on my birthday, why did he feel the need to send red roses to my door step?
"He's probably still caught up on you, and wanted to be polite." Mum shrugged, trying to make me feel better about the situation.
Her words made it worse though. I don't want him to still be in love with me because that means he'll be heart broken to find out I'm not even interested anymore.
"That's a bad thing."
"Well maybe he just wanted to get you a present, he did say he wanted to stay friends." Dad shrugged.
"Flowers though?" I raised an eyebrow. "I don't think so."
"Tia, just accept it. Send him a message saying thank you and leave it at that." Taylyn said, giving me my phone.
I hesitated, but slowly typed a message to Ian saying thank you and hit send.
Zoe and Alfie soon left, leaving me with yet another happy birthday wish. Taylyn and I were left messing around with the new TV Zoe and Alfie had bought me, which was way bigger than my last one.
