3rd person PoV

They had been fighting for a while. Riku was trying his hardest to hit y/n or get some of her blood at least. But she was keeping her distance.

One issue about the two of them being teammates was that they knew each other in and out. Knew each other too well.

They separated from each other again.

"We're not getting anywhere!" Riku shouted, running his fingers through his hair really annoyed, "I can't get any of your blood and you seem to only have taijutsu!"

"Only taijutsu?" y/n repeated curiously before smiling, "well shall I step up a bit then?"

"If you have anything to step up on," he gave her an unamused expression as he just stood there breathing deep breaths.

She walked further away from him and then turned to where he was stood before closing her eyes, steadying her breathing and then opening them again.

Her eyes held a snowflake and the air around seemed to chill incredibly.

"S-so cold," Naruto commented as everyone moved in closer to see what was happening. Once again they were completely drawn into y/n's fighting.

Balls of ice started to appear around her. They started changing. They all pulled out into long sharp splints like large needles.

She opened her eyes again and raised her hand before pushing it forward and sending the splints in the direction of her opponent.

They sped forward faster than one could react and Riku found himself being turned into a pin cushion. Y/n clicked her fingers and the ice melted but at a heated rate causing him to yelp as he became burned by the scolding water.

He dropped to his knees and started to heal himself as much as he could.

"Yes!" a shout came from the crowd as f/n stood, proudly pointing at her, "she's doing it! That's my daughter!"

Y/n paused a moment and looked back to him before shaking her head, you're embarrassing me, Dad...

The ground started freezing up and she was raised by an ice pillar. Every movement she did created more and more sharp weapons and little shapes which she sent right to him, clicking, burning him, and then doing it again.

After a while he just flopped to the ground and she melted the pillar she was on, the water running over his body, he yelled out in pain before she froze the water and cooled down his burns.

She flinched at his shout and shook her head. She didn't want to hurt Riku. Especially not like this. She tried to put to the side their friendship but found that she couldn't keep it to the side for too long, especially not while hearing his pain.

Damnit, she thought as she looked down at Riku and shook her head before looking up where the proctor was.

"Proctor!" she called out loudly, "I forfeit."

"What?!" everyone exclaimed in unison as she walked over to her teammate and helped him up.

"Winner, Riku Haru, looser, f/n l/n," the proctor announced.

"B-but w-why?" Riku asked as he allowed her to help him up.

"Because, not only am I hurting my teammate and friend but I'm also still exhausted. I've just got here, I'm tired and my chakra is also pretty down. I don't need much to get the ice up but getting it to melt at a high temperature takes up so much chakra it almost starts to hurt," she explained as medical nin ran over and took Riku away on a stretcher.

Of course it wasn't the complete truth, but she wasn't going to be completely honest, especially not for such a ridiculous reason such as a strong feeling of friendship. Not in this ninja world.

"And once again, I've sent my teammate to the hospital," she sighed.

"Please leave the arena," the proctor told her.

"It'd be my pleasure," she said before jumping up to where the other were, she jumped right in front of Naruto, making him jump and fall back.

"I believe it's your turn now," she told the blonde-haired boy who just jumped back up and disappeared down the stairs.

Your PoV

I was about to go to Shikamaru when I was flagged down by Kankuro and Temari, I moved to where they were stood.

"What was that jutsu? I've never seen it before," Temari asked.

"Just my families kekkei genkai," I shrugged before yawning, "I need to work on that a bit more. I'm sure my Dad will help out."

"You did well," Gaara spoke up. I smiled.

It's weird that he's so talkative, usually he's... I don't really know how to explain it. Cold? Distant? Angry.

"Thanks, Gaara, I'm sure you'll do well yourself," I told him before turning away and approaching Shikamaru and Shino.

"Yo," I greet them quickly before sitting down and resting my back against the wall, the two boys looked down at me.

"Welcome back," Shino said.

"Thanks."

"Did you improve as much as you wanted?" Shikamaru asked.

"Yes I did. I need to improve a bit more though. My chakra control isn't as great as others because I have never had to use it as often as I do when it comes to melting and heating. Who knew it'd be so exhausting?" I replied with a shrug as I pulled my book out again.

"You should probably sleep then," Shino told me. I sighed and nodded before closing my eyes, placing the open book over my eyes to help block out the sun and just relaxing.

Stupid chakra work is exhausting.

Shino's PoV

I told her she should sleep because she looked like she'd fall asleep with or without someone telling her.

As soon as she closed her eyes and rested a book on her face, she started to sleep.

She's quite an interesting girl.

Strong and independent. Intelligent when she wants to be.

Not to mention her ice is quite interesting. I'm not sure if she sees it, but other people who can create ice don't have the ice just reacting to them. They have to use hand signs to make the ice form or even do something. But this girl, she just moves or breathes, and it just forms and does whatever... just like...

I glance over to where the sand ninja were.

Her ice is just like Gaara's sand...
