I was stood speaking with Kotetsu and Izumo just talking when two figures started coming our way. One was blonde and loud. The other was a white-haired pervert who I've been working with.

"Y/n?" the blonde called me.

"Hello, Naruto," I greeted him as he entered the gates with Jiraiya a bit behind him.

"How'd you know we were coming home today?" he asked, I shrugged.

"It was a hunch," I smiled. Actually, it's because I have a link to Jiraiya so we can get in contact with each other if so needed.

"You're different. Did you shrink?" he questioned, sizing me up against him.

"No... you just grew," I said fairly annoyed.

"Right..." he chuckled nervously.

"Anyway, I need to steal Jiraiya. You don't mind do you?" I asked Naruto, he shook his head and gave me his Naruto grin before walking off and leaving me with Jiraiya.

"This is about the..?" Jiraiya asked, I nodded.

Akatsuki.

"I have news. And you?" I asked, he nodded, and we both walked away in the direction of a little and always empty tea shop.

"How was training?" he asked.

"It was good," I nodded before tapping my chest, "how's this?"

"It's fine now, thanks to you of course," he replied.

A while ago Naruto went berserk and badly hurt Jiraiya during his training. So because we have a link I sensed it and quickly shadow hopped to him just in time to help him, but he has a pretty ugly scar where he was hurt.

"Alright, enough of the idle chat," I said, and we both fell serious, "I think I know where they are. But I need a bit more time to confirm before we go and check it out. Can't be raising suspicions over a false location."

"I also have a vague idea of where they are but I'm starting to think my place is just an old hide out used while extracting a tailed beast," Jiraiya nodded, "I found out their leader is called Pain but there might be a higher and stronger presence with them that we don't know about."

"Interesting... someone in their team isn't who they claim to be," I added, the white-haired man looked at me surprised, "they're hiding their real identity and after you said there might be a higher presence, I have to say it's quite likely it's because of that. There's a larger plan being created than what we could even comprehend."

"You're right," Jiraiya nodded, "we need to speak with Tsunade."

"We do but we need to keep the location bit down just for now until myself or you have confirmed it," I agreed, he nodded, and we both got up again, paying the bill for the tea we didn't even drink and then started our journey towards Tsunade's office.

Shikamaru's PoV

Is that Sannin Jiraiya?

Why is she meeting him?

They're talking about... the Akatsuki?

Y/n, what have you been doing while you've been training? You're acting like this meeting is a normal occurrence.

Get a grip, Shikamaru, she'll tell you when the time is right.

"I just hope it's not when things are too late," I mumbled before noticing Choji and approached him.

"Hey, man," he greeted me.

"Hey," I replied, yawning as he ate his crisps(/chips) loudly.

"So what's happening with y/n?" he asked, I looked at him confused, did he see her meeting with Jiraiya?

"Are you two a thing?" he asked, I relaxed.

"Yes," I nodded, and we walked in silence.

"Are you ok, Shikamaru?" Choji finally asked, I looked at him for a moment but nodded.

"Yeah. Don't worry, let's go sit down," I suggested before we both walked to the bench that we always sat on.

Your PoV

"And that's about all that we've pieced together so far," Jiraiya concluded everything we'd just told Tsunade and Shizune. They stayed silent but Tsunade joined her fingers together and closed her eyes in thought before nodding.

"Have you figured out a location yet?" she asked, I looked at Jiraiya and he nodded.

"We both have an idea, but we want to look into it a bit more to see if we're right or not," I replied, she nodded.

"Alright. Continue as you were," she told us, the door opened and in came Sakura and Naruto.

"I'll be off now then," I said before remembering something, "actually, Tsunade.."

I walked over to her and whispered: "I have a boyfriend." and then turned and escaped before the words registered in her head. I exited the building to see Shikamaru and Choji were sat in their space, so I decided to have a little fun and stood silently at the stairs just below their view height and started to freeze the floor they were raised up off and then the surface of the bench they were sat on.

"W-what the—?!" Choji exclaimed as I felt the ice catch him, "Shikamaru! Do something!"

I had to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing.

"What am I supposed to do?!" Shikamaru shouted back as equally panicked before they both went silent. I got curious and turned around, peaked over the gap to see Shikamaru stood there with a smirk playing on his face.

"No!" I shouted as I tried to run away from him, but clearly he's learned a new technique.

"Shadow grab jutsu," he said, "complete."

"Damn it. You've learned a jutsu that can actually get me," I muttered, he smirked and grabbed me himself before pulling me up to where Choji was frozen. I burst out laughing.

"I'm sorry, Choji, but when I sensed my ice grab you I didn't expect you to be grabbed like that," I managed to say between laughs at the brown-haired boy who was hanging upside down with his crisps(/chips) stuck to his face.

"Ha-ha, yes it's so very funny, now please let me go," he begged, I managed to stop myself from laughing before sliding over to him and tapping the ice in the four weak points. The ice crumbled and he was dropped onto the wooden surface of the bench with a thud.

"Are you ok?" I asked, wincing at the pain he must've been suffering, he sat up and grinned.

"I am now that all the blood isn't in my head," he replied. I sat down and Shikamaru sat next to me as I melted the ice along the floor.

"I think we should have a rookie 12—11 battle now that Naruto is back," Choji said, I blinked a few times but snickered.

"I'd beat you all in one tap of the ground," I told him, neither of them disagreed because they knew I was probably right. We all sat in silence before I just lied down on the bench and watched the skies above, Shikamaru joined and Choji just sighed.

"It's weird, my two best friends are dating now," he said, I propped myself up on my elbows.

"I guess it's time we find you a lucky girl, huh?" I asked, winking at him. He shook his head.

"No way!" he exclaimed before standing up and pulling out a list, "anyway, I have to get these ingredients, or my darling Mother will never let me hear the end of it. See you guys!"

"Bye," we said in unison as Choji ran down the stairs and left the two of us in a comfortable silence.
