Emilia's POV

I stared out of the window of the classroom as the boring old teacher taught us about stuff we already knew.

I was thinking. Thinking about Colby.

Colby.

Just his name makes me have butterflies in my stomach. I absolutely know I love him with every inch of my body. Just his name makes me tingle all around.

But he's my best friend and the schools man slut and I don't want to be hurt and lose my best friend or be humiliated that he doesn't like me back and lose my only friend.

That's why I keep to myself.

I'm best friends with Katrina and Sam, who are dating. They were the school's "it" couple. Everyone was jealous of them. They'd been dating for four years and everyone wished to be like them.

As I stared out the window I saw the rain splatter on the window the trees blow in the wind.

"Emilia?"
A voice asked.

I cleared my throat and turned around.

I faced the person.

"Oh, hey Josh."
I said.

Josh was the boy every girl wanted to date, he just never dated anyone.

"I was wondering if you wanted be my girlfriend and go to prom with me."
Josh asks.

I blush and smile.

"Of course, I'd be happy to."
I say smiling.

Josh blushes and sits next to me in class.

Kat runs down the hallway and approaches my locker.

I look at her confused.

"What?"
I asked.

"You're fucking dating Josh?! When did that happen?!"
She yells.

"Stop yelling! He asked me out in third today."
I say.

"What about Colby? Didn't you like him?"
Kat asks.

"Yeah. I do-did. I just know I'll never get my chance with him."
I say.

I look over at Colby and see him talking to his friends. He looks over and smiles before going back to talking to his friends.

I look back at Kat and see Josh come up behind her.

"Besides, I'm happy."
I said before I walking away to Josh.

"Sure you are..."
Kat sighs.

Months past and Josh and I were happily dating for four months. Prom around the corner I was choosing a dress with Sam and Colby.

I wore a purple dress.

It looked big and I loved it.

I walked out and saw Sam and Colby sitting down looking bored out of their minds.

They noticed I was there and looked.

"You look good."
Colby says.

"Yeah. Pretty."
Sam says.

"You've said that about the last like two dresses."
I say looking at myself in the mirror.

"Because it is pretty. Who are you even going with?"
Colby asked.
