All three of them stepped outside the office, they were in that big hallway. She had no idea where she should head so she would follow Minghao in any case.
«This way, let's visit your room.» said Minghao and smiled, she nodded and walked behind him, next to Mingyu.
«Mr Kim, don't you have a bodyguard as well?»
She asked and lifted her gaze towards the tall man, until it met his and she looked away.
«I don't need one.» he eyed her from the side, he placed his hands on his pockets.
«Unlike you mrs Evans, I have been here for a long time.»
«I see.» she lifted her eyebrows and looked around, but there was nothing she could see rather than the white wall. The hallway seemed endless.
«Don't look for elevators or stairs that will lead you up.» said Mingyu as he realized she felt like being trapped underground. «CERN is like a small city, much bigger than any of you outsiders would ever imagine.»
Linda turned to him interested in his words. Of course it wouldn't be like they showed it on TV or Internet.
They lied about some things or hid the truth, presenting something much different to the world.
He knew that she knew, so why did he say that? Could it be that big?
In the end of the hallway there was a turn, what was hiding in there?
«The facility is basically extended underground. It divides in four areas, each of them are studying and working over different subjects. The Accelerators aren't included in ours but we can visit them sometime, when we won't be that busy.» he said in a calm tone.
He made it sound like he was either not interested in them or that it was that easy for him to visit them whenever he wanted to. Maybe both.
«Of course I would like to.» said Linda and smiled at the thought of being able to see them.
It felt like an exciting adventure had just begun.
They reached the end of the hallway, they took the turn. The hallway was now divided into other three and each of them seemed to be divided into more.
She kept her eyes on Minghao, she knew that she'd get lost if she stepped a meter away.
«Maybe you would like to eat something first, Mrs Evans?»
Minghao turned his head to the girl.
«No, I am alright.» said Linda and slowly placed her palm on her stomach. She was excited but anxious as well.
«I should pass by here before I sleep.» said Mingyu as they walked next to a big door made out of glass.
She turned her head and her eyes widened at the sight of the big room. This whole time she thought she was walking in huge narrow hallways that seemed dark and felt like she was trapped inside. But it seemed like the walls next to her were not all empty. There was space and there were people.
In front of the big door were stairs that were leading lower, then a huge room was opening up. It was the cafeteria, the place where everyone would eat, sit and talk to each other. So many tables and people, so much food being offered in buffets. And the ceiling was ridiculously tall for a place that was built underground.
Maybe she should eat something, but it could wait. She had to learn the place first before she would wander around.
There were more doors like this all around the hallway. Offices, laboratories, shops.
It was indeed like a small city. Much more different than she thought it would be.
She could see in the distance elevators in a row, they where either going lower or even traveling horizontally.
Their rooms of course wouldn't be somewhere close to their workplace.
Two women appeared from one of the rooms, they were both tall. They were wearing their white robes, everyone was actually wearing these since they were all scientists. Or at least they appeared to be.
The one had big eyes and long blonde hair with a fringe, making her look like a doll. The other had long brown hair as well, her characteristics were betraying her Asian origin.
They talked and laughed, the blonde smiled widely and waved at Mingyu as soon as she noticed him.
«Mingyu! Haven't seen you these days.» she said loudly as she approached him.
The other woman kindly greeted both of the men.
«Is this Linda Evans?!» the blonde gasped as she noticed the young girl Minghao was covering with his height.
«I mean, I knew that she would come but, I didn't think I could actually meet her.» she smiled and approached her, Linda smiled awkwardly.
«Kunpimok Lisa, one of Thailand's smartest students. I have read your research when I was still in university.» Linda spoke before any of the men could say something.
The girl smiled even wider now, opening her mouth letting her teeth show. She felt so excited.
«No way! I feel so honored, wow!» said Lisa and turned to her coworker.
The other just smiled surprised.
«I'm sorry but I don't know you.» said Linda trying to comfort the other woman, thinking that she might had felt bad that people didn't know her. But not everyone in CERN was famous, right?
«Her name is Rosé Park, she is from Australia.» said Minghao and the girl nodded.
Both Minghao and Rosé didn't seem like they had a lot to add into the conversation.
«It's nice to meet you.» she spoke finally.
«You are lucky to work with her, I hope we can meet again» said Lisa to Mingyu and then to Linda, Rosé had already began to walk away.
«I know I am.» mumbled Mingyu to himself and waved at the women.
Minghao smirked as he gave one last glance at Rosé and then kept walking towards his destination.
«We are using this one.» said Minghao and stopped in front of one of the elevators.
Soon the people that were passing by noticed Linda and stopped, they stared at her and started whispering to one another.
Mingyu stepped behind her trying to block the view for most of them.
Minghao stepped inside the elevator and turned to Linda, waiting for her to enter.
«Linda.» said Mingyu in a silent tone and the girl looked at him.
Did he just call her by her first name? She thought that people, especially from the country he was from, Korea, were talking with more respect and were using honorifics.
«Trust Minghao, I guarantee you that you are going to be safe with him.» he whispered as he placed his big hand on her shoulder.
Minghao gave him a confused look, Linda felt like his information was unnecessary.
«Thank you Mr Kim.» she said and walked next to Minghao.
The doors closed and Mingyu sighed. He looked at the people around him and they all took their eyes off him.
It was still noon, he should head to his office and prepare some lasts things, before Linda would join him.
