"Guys, I think we have company." said Joshua as he carefully approached the window next to him, and looked outside.

He saw someone walking around, towards his house.

Mingyu sighed and Linda punched the desk, she would never be able to find out.

"Come on, you should stay on the loft. It's safer." said Joshua and gestured them to get out of the room quickly, he turned off the light and hurried outside.

"Take this." he said as soon as they reached the loft and handed Linda another gun, the girl took it and eyed him suspiciously.

What was he, a ghost?
Why would he escape the experiment?

"Stay in this room. There might be a possibility they are not aware that we are in this house. We will make sure nobody enters. If they do, don't hesitate to shoot. It's your life that's on the line, defend it." he said and turned around to leave, Mingyu was waiting for him in the stairs.

"Is my life more important than Jonathan's?" said Linda bluntly.
"Or Joseph's? What about Peter?" she continued and the young man stopped, he was impressed of her memory skills.

He turned his head and smiled.

"It's precious to someone."

He said and left the door half-opened, he quickly walked downstairs.

The girl looked around her, she couldn't see much, the room was dark.
The curtains were hiding the light from the moon. She heard the main door open, probably Mingyu and Joshua got outside, to check.

She looked at the object on her hands, she didn't know herself if she should be allowed to use one.
Killing someone wasn't an easy case, anyone's life was important.

She wasn't the one to choose who lives and dies, it made her angry that Mingyu took over that role.
But he never meant harm to her, he cared about her.

Suddenly she heard something like a landing, on the floor made out of wood, as if someone had jumped.

That scared her off and she turned to the door startled.
Could it be someone had entered..?
Did they climb and jump through from the windows, from the other rooms? She didn't even know where the other rooms were.

Slow footsteps were approaching the room she was in, she stepped backwards, near the window. Screaming wouldn't be a good idea, Mingyu was away and maybe that someone wasn't aware of her presence.

However, talking wasn't an option.
All she could do was kill them or hide. But that would cause sound, there was absolute silence, it would betray her position.

She lifted her shaky hand towards the door.

Tragic.
She was determined and mad just a few minutes earlier, she felt no fear nor hesitation.
Now she was stressed, she was afraid of what might follow. No intention on shooting anyone.
Probably because she didn't know who her target was.

The person stopped in front of the door. He was alone, it didn't seem like a team had invaded. His hand fell on the half-opened door, it slipped and opened it.

Linda pointed at his direction, he would shoot her, kill her, abduct her, he would do something to her.

She had no choice, her fear took over and all that was left for her was to pull the trigger.

Joshua walked along the balkony, Mingyu following him. The street was clear, no cars were moving. A few people were walking around but they seem like normal ones, nothing worrying.

"We shouldn't had let her alone." said Mingyu and frowned, he regretted his decision.

In fact, instead of going outside, they should escape right away.

"You need to leave Mingyu. How did the boss find out about you?" whispered Joshua and the man shrugged.

"I have no idea, it doesn't matter." he said and the sudden gunshot scared them off.

They looked up, then at each other. Mingyu's heartbeat increased, he hoped Linda was fine.

The man gasped in surprise, he didn't know someone was actually in there.

He grabbed his stomach and fell on his knees, letting the rest of his body hug the floor.
His other hand was stretched ahead, the gun pointing to the front but not somewhere specifically.

Linda looked at the man as she realized she had actually shot him. She kept aiming at him, hesitating on whether she should pull the trigger again or let him die on his own.

Her stress maxed when he pointed at her, but immediately settled down when she recognized his skinny arms and body structure, the black hair that was covering his big eyes.

He lifted his head to look at the person who had just shot him, he had only one chance to backfire it before she would kill him.

"Minghao!" yelled Linda and he let go of his gun, resting his arm on the floor.

He was relieved that it was her, that meant she was okay.
