Chapter 24

"All we need is to transfer those algorithms and install the last program inside the system. There is nothing else left, we might finish it today." said Linda and smiled, she was excited about her machine.

The day everyone was waiting for had probably arrived.

Mingyu grabbed the papers and sat in front of the big screen, he started typing very fast on the keyboard.

He was excited as well, he was happy about her too.

She wiped the sweat off her forehead with her forearm and then adjusted her glasses. She took a few steps behind and looked at the capsule in front of her.

The man grabbed her shoulder and smiled at her.

"You made it Linda!" he said and the girl turned to him, she smiled and touched his hand.

"It's finally ready." she said and hugged him, Mingyu hugged her back.

"Inform the boss." she said and Kathrin nodded happily and left.

Although an assistant could do it, she was very hyped about her friend.

Linda was excited and nervous, not about the boss' reaction, but if her time machine would actually work.
She and Mingyu were working on it the past 9 months, they wouldn't waste any second.

"No need to do so." said Ursula as she appeared in front of Katrin, the second backed off and let the woman walk inside the room.

Linda turned to her surprised, Mingyu stepped back leaving her to the front.

He felt like she deserved most of the credit since her ideas played an important role to the project.

If she wasn't there, any on this wouldn't be possible.

"Congratulations! Both of you." continued Ursula as she shook her hand, the girl smiled widely.

Mingyu smiled too and shook his hand afterwards.

"I know we shouldn't hurry to jump into conclusions, although we have talked about it a lot of times.. But we are not sure if it actually works, shouldn't we test it first?" said Linda and laughed awkwardly, playing with her fingernails nervously.

"It works." said another woman, that looked and sounded like Ursula, a gun shot echoed in the big room.

Linda screamed and covered her ears as she tripped on Mingyu's hug.
He placed his arms around her and pulled her to the side. Both of them looked shocked at Ursula's dead body.

"Don't be that surprised, this is the proof your time machine works! It works! We tested it a few days ago with her." she said and pointed her gun towards Kathrin, she gasped and took a few steps behind scared.

He pulled the trigger and she fell on the floor, dead. Kathrin was supposed to inform Ursula about its success.

Kathrin walked in and looked at her own other self that was lying down lifeless.

Linda and Mingyu looked at her shocked, they were confused.

"I tried myself that machine a few days from now and here I am." said Ursula and laughed as she looked at her dead past self.

"She is going to kill us." whispered Linda to her partner and he looked at her with fear in his eyes.

She was shaking and her eyes started getting teary. He hugged her very tightly and gave to the old woman a disgusted look.

They had to find a way to escape, otherwise they would meet their own deaths in a matter of seconds.

Mingyu moved his eyes slowly to the side, he looked at the machine. Ursula had just said that it worked, and she proved it.
