Chapter 15

«Finally!»

Exclaimed Linda as she entered the laboratory, her excitement clearly painted on her face.

She was glad they were done with the paperwork, although it was incomplete. They still got something.

«I got our materials ready, let's check them out.» said Mingyu and headed down the stairs of the big room.

Minghao followed him along to help him.

There were more people in there, they would be their helpers, they would obey Linda's and Mingyu's orders.

They revealed some capsules and other pieces of metals, they could start building the main part. Mingyu grabbed a piece and moved it in the center of the hall, there was something like a stand.

Linda would just sit and watch for now, there was no way a small fragile woman like her could ever lift something so heavy. She was surprised even Minghao could, although he was so skinny and seemed not that strong.

Mingyu on the other hand helped a lot. He was the strongest in there, most of the guys were small and seemed weak. Like nerds.
Linda was proud and glad he wasn't just standing around and ordering the assistants, he was helpful.

The woman was in front of a computer, she was inserting the data and later she would design parts of the model.
Some hours passed and she felt someone grabbing her shoulder from behind. That scared her off and she turned around startled.

«Hey- oh I didn't mean to scare you!» said the woman and laughed, Linda laughed and placed her hand on her heart.

It was Kathrin Adams, the woman who was working in the laboratory next to them.

«Hello.» she said simply and smiled as usual.

She looked at Mingyu, he wasn't aware of her. He was busy with some papers.

«I learned you will finally be here so I came to say hello!» said Kathrin happily and smiled.

Linda looked at her awkwardly. She was actually in the middle of something important, she had no time to waste at the moment

«Thanks...» she mumbled and a man's voice interrupted them.

«Kathrin! Yo I need- We need you.» said the man as he walked a few meters away from the door.

They both turned to him, Mingyu as well.

«Yo Jacob.» he greeted him and the other waved at him.
He then turned to Kathrin .

«Oh, coming then!» she said sadly and turned to the woman. «I'll see ya another time.» she said and walked to her partner.

Linda turned to her screen, Mingyu back to his own stuff. They were trustful so there was no problem with them walking in and out whenever they wanted. At least for now.

Kathrin approached Jacob and he smiled at her. He stretched his hand and placed it on her hair, moving it behind her ear. She blushed and quickly stepped in their laboratory, he made sure he closed the door behind them.

«Are you sure about it Mr Kim?» asked one of the assistants again, standing in the exit.

«Totally, get some rest.» said Mingyu and gestured them to leave, they smiled and did what he had ordered them to do.

«What a day.» exclaimed the man and took off his robe, he was tired and it was kind of warm in the room.

Linda was feeling cold most of the time, she turned to him as she was tired as well.

He let his body sink on the chair, he calmed all of his muscles and took a deep breath. His black short-sleeved shirt and pants made him look more like an engineer rather than a scientist.

She stretched her back and arms, she pushed the desk and her chair rolled to the back. She turned to Mingyu and he eyed her as soon as her chair was closer to his. She looked away and got up, walking towards the center of the room.

She hid her hands in her pockets and stopped in front of the capsule. It was only just the start. Now they were actually doing the fun stuff.

«You know why I refused NASA's request?» she said out of nowhere, in a low, calm tone.

Mingyu turned to her and sat in a normal position. She was about to talk to him, it was rare, especially on that topic. He had to listen carefully and respect the fact she decided to open up to him.

«My younger sister had died days before that.» she said and smiled, her gaze pinned on the floor. «I wasn't in the mood for trips. I kindly denied as I decided that I should stay with my family, they needed me the most at that time.» she continued and sniffed. «Later as I continued my studies, I thought that if I could go back in time... If I could bring my sister back, then my parents would be happy again. I really don't believe it's possible but, I keep working on it with the hope that humanity might be a bit more happy if I succeed.» she said and paused.

Mingyu was listening carefully, he could understand her motive and reason.

He didn't say something, she maybe wanted to continue or think. He got up and walked to her, his memories popping up on his head. He stretched his arm and hesitatally approached her shoulder.

Linda felt his hand as it gently landed next to her neck, she could sense his intention as he wanted to comfort her. He came closer to her from behind and slowly placed his hand on her other arm.
The girl stood still, the feeling of anxiety growing bigger with every second his hands kept in touch with her. It was awkward for sure, she had never hugged any other men than her relatives. Her stomach felt weird, her heart beat faster than before.
It's not that she wanted him to let her go, she liked it.

«You are so kindhearted, Linda.» he said silently and instead of pulling her to him, he walked closer to her.

She relaxed her neck and her head fell on the side, on his chest.

«We will succeed in this, together.» he said and almost whispered his last word.

She placed her hand on his and closed her eyes, then nodded.

«Thank you Mingyu.» she said and they both stood like that for a while.

He was the first person to know of this, even if it wasn't something that special. That meant she trusted him and felt now comfortable around him.
