February 2019

It had been just a month since Linda had arrived in CERN. One month since the day she got parted from her managers and met Minghao and Mingyu. They were spending every day together and each one passed by always so fast. She really liked that place, but what was more interesting was the secrets the outer world had no idea about.

She didn't saw Ursula again, Mingyu told her that he was seeing her barely as well. They never really met their bosses and that's because most of the times, the boss couldn't interfere in the scientist's job, they just didn't know how. The scientists had only to respond to their requests.

She was meeting with Lisa usually at the cafeteria, they had short conversations, nothing in particular. That's what she would do with the other people, but they still made her feel as if she couldn't blend in.

It was early in the morning, there were barely people in the cafeteria. Linda couldn't sleep well that night so she decided to go there before others.
She thought that maybe people would think stuff they shouldn't, about her and Minghao. It was understandable that he had to protect her but it was too obvious. Everywhere, all eyes were on her. That's how she felt.

It was the first time she had walked till there on her own. At least she knew the way now, she couldn't get lost as long as she stayed in the Area.

She sat down in the corner, away from the others. Her room was kind of dull, it was boring sometimes. There were so many places she wanted to see, one month and she still wasn't able to visit them. If she went on her own, then Minghao would kill her.

Her fingers patted her thighs, she wasn't feeling sleepy at all. Sometimes she wanted to return back to her country, other times she felt so lucky being here. Minghao had become a close friend, since she couldn't discuss business with him, they were usually talking about themselves. He had nice stories to tell about his childhood and hometown.

Mingyu on the other hand was professional, he was kind and serious, she knew he was reliable and trustworthy. He would crack some jokes to change the mood whenever he had to. He was behaving like the ideal man for Linda. He wasn't doing anything to make her feel awkward, he seemed like he understood.

The girl shook her head, what kind of thoughts were those? She had never actually felt any kind of attraction to any male, but with Mingyu, it was different. He was like a brother- no. Like a close friend. Someone she wanted to have around.

The doors opened silently, like they always did. But the person rushing inside the cafeteria wasn't silent at all. His fast pace distracted the girl and she turned to him startled.

The man looked around the room, he spotted Linda and locked eye contact. The girl thought she was in trouble, he seemed like he was looking for her... And worried.

He exhaled in relief and then walked towards her, slower than before.

«Good morning Mingyu.» she said to him when he was close to her.

He just sat across her and stared for a couple of seconds.

«Do you know what time it is?» he said while breathing silently heavily.

«Early.» said Linda and smiled, trying to calm him down.

«Minghao was looking for you.» he said and took his phone out of his pocket. «Why didn't you say anything? He got worried.» he said and started typing, probably to Minghao, telling him that he had found her.

«Oh Minghao only.» she mumbled and smirked, the man was clearly worried, he was trying to control his breathing.

«Huh?» he lifted his head and leaned a little bit closer, turning his ear to her.
