Guess who's back?

Guess who's back, back again, not me because goddamn school is driving me insane. This will either be a super short update or I'll do it in two parts, haven't decided yet because I'm writing this while sitting cross-legged on the kitchen table waiting for the kettle to boil...shut up it's cold and I like tea.

So not THAT much has really happened since last time honestly. I've had a few SACs, gotten marks back, doing pretty good, over 80 for everything and I've been spending most of my time doing homework and FINDING NEW MUSIC. HOLY SHIT DO YOU GUYS HAVE THIS PROBLEM???

So we all know my music tastes are fucken wild, throw anything at me, I'll give it a shot and there's like a 70% chance I'll like it. But even though it's so wild I'm struggling to find some really good shit.

Holidays have also just started for me so hopefully I'll be able to get a move on with my book! It's coming along and DAYUM do I have plans. So I've changed my original plot to something a little more interesting, or at least what I think will be more interesting. I had already decided on the whole fantasy and magic theme but I decided to combine it with another of my favourite genres that will be introduced a little later in the story. I'm pretty excited to actually get to the main plot line but I know a good introduction is important so I'm trying to make sure the first ten or so chapters are at the same standard as the rest of them, even though I don't have AS much fun writing them.

I also recently went to a classical concert my friend was performing in and PHEW. It was really cool, they played all of Holst's planets and it was breathtaking to watch (if you don't know the planets definitely have a listen, really well composed). Although there was a green viola and I was cringing every time I saw it, for the non-musicians, everyone hates violas and the fact that some dude probably paid MORE to have it painted green is disgusting.

Aside from green violas, the annual GIJ is coming up real soon so I'm gonna be BUSY rehearsing all my pieces. It's always an awesome time though and the 8 hour drive is worth all the fun we have. It's only gonna be my second year going since I've really only been playing trombone for a little over 2 years (in comparison to my 6 years of flute) but I'm fricken READY.

I'm also going to see Sarah J Maas tomorrow and Jesus I'm so excited. She's on her Australia/New Zealander tour and I'm gonna be seeing her by 2:00 tomorrow which is super awesome. I'm going with one of my best friends, we were both super lucky to get tickets, her mum is a bloody legend and bought us tickets the day they came out, we're sitting like 7 rows from the front and we also get a signed copy of Kingdom Of Ashes which is AWESOME. It does mean I'm gonna have to sell my other copy online though, no real point in having two copies, especially when one's signed. I'll tell you how it goes afterwards but she's gonna talk about her new series Crescent City and I cannot wait until 2020 for this to come out.

Going back to my book like a completely unprepared entry (literally never prepare for these so you know). I'm planning on having your big old typical magic war (because we've all read a billion of those) but I don't want to have my main characters involved in it, especially since most of my characters are only about 17 or 18, I feel it wouldn't make sense for them to rush forward into a magic war and somehow save the day, it's not realistic. So instead they're going to be outside the war, and writing after it I'm going to have the second half of the book more about the aftermath and how some young people are going to deal with the effects of it. Obviously I'm not gonna spoil anything but I'm hoping to create a book that's not so stereotypical and has some excitement and direction without having to put some young people onto a battlefield and tell them they're special enough to win.

Anyway, my tea is boiled and I've got some writing to do. If you have any questions about my book or anything else mentioned, give a shout and I'll do my best to answer without spoiling too much.

Peace out
~Spirit
