"Pearl, that gave you no right to kill him!"
"Don't go turning this on me, Reena! Why didn't you tell me you were in debt?" Marina frowned. "This is exactly why! I knew you would do this," she said. "Babe, you wanted him dead too." The Octoling let out a sarcastic laugh. "I'm not like you, Pearl! I didn't want him dead, I didn't want anyone dead!" Pearl ran her hands down her face, taking a deep breath. "He was Emperor's boyfriend," she said with a hysterically sad laugh. "I killed my little brother's boyfriend." Marina sighed and sat down next to her girlfriend, placing a hand on her shoulder. "How much money did he take from you total?" Pearl asked. Marina silently did the math in her head. "25,000 maybe," she muttered quietly. Pearl scrunched up her face, then stood up and headed towards her vault but was interrupted by Marina grabbing her arm. "Don't worry about it, Pearlie. It's really," she bit her lip, "Not that... much."
"It may not be much to me, but it's obviously a lot to you," Pearl said, continuing onwards towards her vault. Marina frowned and stayed seated, looking down at her green tinted fingers. Pearl threw a few money clips at Marina with a look of disappointment. She was definitely upset, almost on the verge of tears. Even so, the Oyabun refused to show any vulnerability. She had shown enough emotion the night she killed Eging Jr, after all. "I'm sorry. For everything. Why do you still even put up with all this shit, Reena?" The Octoling sighed and stood, walking over to Pearl and hugging her. "Because I'm in love with you," she said as calmly as she could. She didn't want to cry in front of Pearl, that was the last thing she wanted to do. Last time she did that, she refused to show her face to the shorter girl for a week.
"I love you too, Marina. More than you could ever know. And I... I'm sorry," Pearl blinked back her tears. "What you did that night... I don't think I'm the one you should be apologizing to," Marina said, pulling away from the hug. The Inkling bit down on her lip. "Yeah, you're right." The Octoling kissed her girlfriend's forehead and pulled her jacket closer around her. "I'm gonna go—" Pearl shook her head. "Stay over tonight." She wasn't asking, so Marina nodded. "Only if you go over to Emperor's house tonight to say sorry." The small Inkling hesitated before sighing. "I'll do that right now. Wanna tag along?"
"I'll wait in the car."•
Pearl knocked on the door to Emperor's home. She fidgeted anxiously as N-Pacer opened the door. The yellow inkling suddenly looked upset when she noticed the Oyabun was there. "May I come in?" Pearl asked with a straight face, attempting to make her nervousness unnoticeable. "Uhm. Emperor is a little busy in his room right now, but Prince is in his room if you'd like to see him," N-Pacer said uncomfortably, opening the door for the smaller girl. She walked in, immediately cringing when she heard inappropriate noises coming from Emperor's bedroom. She knocked lightly on Prince's bedroom door. "It's open."
When she entered, she noticed Prince was sitting on his bed with his hands covering his ears. "Pearl..." he uncovered his ears as she walked in. "Hi, Prince," she muttered, taking a seat on his bed. N-Pacer leaned against the door frame. "Pacer, come in. And close the door, I wanted to talk to you all, but Emperor," they all heard a loud moan come from the other side of the wall, "Seems a little busy." N-Pacer nods and closes the door. She took a seat on Prince's beanbag. "Listen. What I did the other night.... I was out of line. I don't know what was going on through my head. And I'm... I'm sorry," she said, playing with Prince's small hand. Prince frowned and hesitated before speaking. "I- I can't..." he stopped himself. "It's okay."
"Why did you do it?" N-Pacer asked, making direct eye contact with the gang leader. Prince turned his head and grimaced at the sight of N-Pacer's obvious anger. "The Octoling that was performing that night. He mentioned extorting money from her, remember? She's... Well, I'm in love with her," Pearl explained, looking away from her harsh gaze. "What? Since when do you—"
"I didn't want anyone knowing. I didn't tell anyone. It's my fault she got money extorted, not Eging's," she said quietly. "How long have you been keeping this from us, big sister?" Prince questioned. Pearl bit down on her lip. "We've been dating for almost a year now.""Pearl, what the hell!?" N-Pacer stood, anger in her eyes. "You killed my best friend because of your fucking mistake!?" Pearl twitched slightly at her tone of voice. She refused to snap back. "I'm sorry, Pacer," she muttered reluctantly. The yellow Inkling scoffed. "What makes you believe that'll bring him back?" she asked. "She regrets it, Pacer. Please calm down," Prince said, voice wavering. "You killed him," N-Pacer stated bluntly. "I can't forgive and forget that, Pearl."
"I'm not expecting you to, I just wanted to let you know that I am," Pearl said snappily, standing up. "I'll let big brother know you were here," Prince said, arms wrapping around himself. Pearl opened her mouth to say one more thing to N-Pacer, but the taller girl had appeared to have heard enough by the looks of it. She had already stormed out of Prince's room and disappeared. Pearl sighed and found her way out. Prince got up and closed the door behind her. He crawled back into bed and began to sob."How'd it go?" Marina asked nervously as her girlfriend angrily opened the car door. "Fucking Emperor..." she grumbled. Marina's eyebrows furrowed in worry. "What happened, Pearlie?" Pearl sat in the passenger seat and slammed the door. "I didn't even apologize to Emp because his whore-ass was fucking someone in his room, while Prince was there!" Marina made a disgusted face. "And then I apologized to Prince and he understood! N-Pacer on the other hand, just fucking left!" she complained. Marina placed a hand on her arm. "Pearlie, calm down, you'll talk to them again." Pearl just murmured something unintelligible and groaned, "Prince is the only tolerable one." Her octoling girlfriend frowned. "Tell me about him." Pearl stopped her complaining to think. "He's- hm. He's real quiet, and spacey. He doesn't... do much, as far as I know." Marina gave the shorter inkling a disappointed look. "Pearl, it seems like you barely know him. You should visit him more often." The Oyabun stared at the ground sullenly. "I- You're right. I don't think he's happy, I've been a bad sister," she stopped and turned to the octoling, "I'm gonna introduce you to him, the next time." Marina gave a small smile. "Please do, I just wanna meet your family like a normal person." This made Pearl's expression sour. "I'm sorry Mar. You don't deserve having to deal with all the gang shit I burden you with."
Marina looked down, seemingly in thought. "No, Pearlie it's okay. It's not your fault that this is your reality." Pearl didn't seem convinced. "While yes, this isn't the... ideal situation. I love you, no matter what, and I'm willing to stick with you through whatever's going on." The octoling gave her girlfriend a small smile. Pearl sighed and grinned back. "I love you. Let's go home and chill like normal lesbians do." Marina giggled and started the car.
