Mask and Bobble had been isolated for the past few weeks because of what happened that night. The nurses heard them and figured it would be best to separate the two. Although they weren't allowed to be near each other, that didn't stop them from meeting up in the cafeteria. Bobble took a seat next to Mask and smiled. "Heeeyy," he said tiredly. "Did you sleep at all last night?" the blue inkling asked with a hint of concern. "Kindaaaa. Went to sleeeep at 4 and woke up at 6 this morniiing," he mumbled, taking a small bite of his apple. "You should probably sleep more then," the blue inkling suggested, stripping the packaging of her string cheese. "Sleeeeep's for looooserrs," he said as Bobble leaned her head on his shoulder. "You're letting a loser rest her head on your shoulder," the smaller inkling informed as Mask wrapped an arm around her.
A groan was heard from behind the two. "No, no, no," an inkling nurse scolded, grabbing a firm hold on Bobble's wrist. "Come on, you have visitors. Seriously though, stay away from him. I'm gonna get into huge trouble if anyone catches you again," she explained, leading Bobble to her room. "I'll allow both of your friends to visit you, just this once. I'll have to lock Mask in his room and keep him there if you two keep seeing each other." The blue inkling frowned but nodded her head. When she walked in, she was greeted by both Headphones and Goggles. The two smiled once Bobble walked in. She was happy to see them, but her face twisted into one of concern when she noticed the bruise on Headphones' cheek. "What happened to your cheek?"
Headphones frowned and turned to Goggles. "You said it wasn't noticeable," she muttered. "At the time it didn't look noticeable," the inkling boy replied with a sheepish smile. "What happened to your cheek?" Bobble repeated, grabbing the taller girl's face to examine the bruise. Headphones blushed due to how close their faces were to each other. "Somebody punched you. Who did it?" The shorter girl asked angrily. "It was nothing really—"
"Goggles, are you hurt too?" The inkling boy just stood there, biting his lip. "We're fine, Bobble. Really," Headphones assured, hugging the shorter girl from the side. Goggles hugged her other side. Bobble hugged them back, but was still not convinced. She pulled away and gave her friends a stern look. "Was it Specs?" The two inklings turned to each other before giving a small nod. "It's okay though, I- I kicked him out," Headphones quickly explained. Bobble furrowed her eyebrows, "Are you sure you guys are okay?" Goggles gave her a smile, "We're sure!" She looked uncertain, but smiled back anyways."So, what's been happening here?" Headphones asked. "Oh, not much. I made a lot of friendship bracelets and weird art projects," the smaller girl laughed, and Headphones blushed. Goggles noticed this and giggled. "Doesn't it get boring?" he asked. "Oh definitely, but sometimes um," she cleared her throat, "Mask and I sneak around the building." Headphones quickly glanced to the side. There was an awkward silence before a tap on the window was heard. "Oh look it's Aloha!" The three inklings waved at him, and he waved back before walking away. "When do you think you're getting discharged?" Headphones suddenly asked. "Oh, soon maybe? The nurses said I'm doing better."
"I'm glad." The taller inkling said, seemingly in thought. The two girls stared at each other in silence, before Goggles abruptly got up. He poorly faked a ringing noise, "Oops looks like my phone is ringing! I'm gonna go take it, so I'll leave you two alone, bye!" He quickly scurried out of the room, and gave Headphones a nervous thumbs up."Uh-" Headphones was cut off. "I'm sorry," the shorter inkling said. "You don't have to be sorry." Bobble shook her head. "Of course I do. I know how you are when I mention him, but I did it anyway," she said, sitting on her bed. Headphones hesitantly sat next to her and let the shorter inkling lean on her shoulder. "It's okay, Bobble. I get it," she mumbled. "I'll stop talking about him. I promise." Headphones stood and looked at Bobble. "I like you." The shorter inkling bit down on her lip. "Headphones-"
"No. You don't have to say anything. I've liked you for a long time now and I shouldn't have left you in the dark. I'm sorry—" A nurse walked in and blushed with embarrassment. "I'm sorry. Visiting hours are over in ten minutes," she muttered. "Thanks," Headphones calls before the nurse left.
