"Are you sure you want to do this?" Tony looked almost in a concerned manner at Peter. The young kid sighed, fidgeting with the bottom of his shirt."C'mon, they fought Spider-man. Might as well know who they really fought," Peter offered a grin to his mentor who frowned at his joking persona. "Anyways, how bad could it be? You went 'I am IronMan' to the whole world and it wasn't that bad."
"Minus the terrorist attacks and constant threats on my life," Tony pointed out.
"Mr. Stark, it'll be fine."
"They don't even know you as Peter yet!" Tony threw his hands in the air for emphasis. Peter frowned and his eyes widened to make a puppy dog look. "Hey, no, don't do that." Tony swatted at Peter who laughed lightly.
"We just gotta hope they'll be fine with it," Peter gave an encouraging smile to Tony who gave an uneasy one back.
"Fine, fricking kids," Tony grumbled before leading the way to the room all the Avengers were sitting and talking in.
"Mr. Stark, you go first," Peter all but shoved Tony into the room causing the Avengers to glance up curiously at the stumbling man. He straightened his shirt and clapped his hands together.
"Hello, friends and acquaintances," Tony began. "Remember that red and blue arachnid kid? Well, he's here in person and wants to introduce himself." Tony motioned for the young kid to come in. He was expecting him swinging in or walking on the ceiling or something more glamorous than just walking in. "We need to work on your entrances."
"Mr. Stark, not the time."
"This is Spider-man?" Steve spoke up first with confusion.
"I'm Peter Parker."
"You're a child," Steve corrected and glared at Tony. Peter sunk in on himself and glanced at Tony for some help.
"Yeah, but he kicked your butt," Stark graciously added on, knowing Peter wasn't going to say anything to correct him.
"How'd you get your powers?" Natasha asked and Peter's eyes widened at the fact that she was talking to him.
"Um, a spider bit me," He blinked stupidly at Natasha who nodded unconvinced. This wasn't exactly going like how it played out in Peter's head.
"How old are you?" Wanda now asked, staring curiously at the new superhero.
"I'm sixteen."
"He's about my age," Wanda turned her head to give a stare at Steve. "I must be a kid then, too."
"You look twelve," Clint pointed out and Peter resisted the urge to blush at that fact. Tony wrapped an arm around Peter, knowing he was getting uncomfortable with all the stares and questions.
"Tony, are we really bringing more kids into this?" Bruce questioned. His words weren't an insult to Peter, more of an actual inquiry that Bruce wanted to know.
"I'm not an Avenger," Peter corrected. "I just help out the small people." Natasha almost gave him a look of respect at his words.
"I dropped a semi-truck on you," Steve's eyes held guilt and anger. Peter wasn't sure what emotions were directed at who.
"Yeah, but I'm fine," Peter opened his arms as if to show the fact that he was indeed unharmed.
"Man of Spiders," Thor started and Peter's mouth snapped shut. "I heard you are a good warrior, is this true?"
"Not really-" Peter began but Tony shushed the kid with a slight nudge.
"He's great," Tony answered properly for Peter who looked unconvinced by his mentor's words. Tony noticed, once again, Peter's discomfort at the words. "You're great." Tony directed this to Peter who nodded at him with thankful eyes.
"Is he your kid or something?" Clint asked. Wanda slapped his arm saying something about how he was being rude.
"No," Tony rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't let my kid get bit by a radioactive spider, I'm much better than that."
"Is that so?" Pepper walked in, instantly drawing Tony's attention.
"Yes, it is," Stark grinned flirtatiously at Ms. Potts. "I'd be a wonderful father."
"You forgot to turn the oven off this morning," Pepper pointed out accusingly. Peter looked at his watch and his eyes widened.
"Um, I gotta go! Aunt May is going to kill me! If I'm not home in five minutes she's definitely taking away my computer-"
"That dinosaur of a thing? You care about that?"
"Yes, I do," He turned to the Avengers and waved. "Bye!" He turned to Tony who pulled him into a hug. "Bye, Mr. Stark." The kid than sprinted out of the room leaving the others in silence.
"He seems nice," Natasha points out.
"He's smart and a genius," Tony smiles almost proudly. Bruce perks up.
"A genius?"
"Yes, he helps me all the time down in the lab."
"Nerds," Clint coughs mockingly. Tony rolls his eyes at the childish adult.
"Can I ask why he isn't an Avenger?" Wanda raises an eyebrow at Tony.
"I don't want him to be put in this kind of harm's way."
"He's being a dad," Pepper says, waving goodbye as her phone rings and she leaves the room.
"What she said was totally outrageous," Tony waves his hands in the air.
"Tony?" Natasha stares unamused at the billionaire.
"Yeah?"
"Stop lying to yourself."
