**Gibbs' POV**

The last words I heard the woman I loved say before I left for Iraq was that I can go to Hell. It was my own fault. I should've told her. I just didn't know how and so I kept putting it off.

"You know she doesn't mean it right?" Abby said to me.

"Yeah whatever." I replied.

"She didn't mean that. We need you to come back." Abby screamed at me.

"Why? Why do I need to come back? So she can hate me? While I'm gone, she'll turn my daughter against me. She won't mean to but her hatred towards me will turn Sophie against me. When I come home, I won't have a family anymore. I'm better off dying out there Abby." I painfully said.

"You don't mean that Gibbs."

"I do. I mean every single word." I told her.

Then I grabbed my bag from under my desk. I made my way to elevator with the navy men behind me and got in when the doors opened.

I had nothing to live for. I had no one to live for. It didn't matter if I lived or died out there. I didn't care.

**Jenny's POV**

When I pulled up outside the house, I realised that my final words to Jethro before he went to war was that I told him to go to Hell. Yes he should've told me, and yes I was pissed at him but I took it too far. My pride wouldn't let me go back and apologise so I got out of the car and unlocked the front door.

Then I got Sophie out of the car. She had cried herself to sleep at some point on the drive home and so I carried her into the house. It was 8.30 in the evening anyway so I put her in bed and tucked her in. I kissed her forehead and turned off the light.

I went back downstairs and called McGee. He was the one talking to the navy men so he knew the answers to questions that I should've answered.

"Jenny are you alright?" He asked me as soon as he answered.

"Special agent McGee, my personal life is none of your business. I called you because you were the agent that was speaking to the men who came to collect special agent Gibbs. Am I correct?" I asked 100% professionally. I had decided that that was the way it was going to be now. If I didn't want to break, I would have to be harsh. I had to keep all my emotions bottled it.

"Yes I spoke to them but Jenny, you need to talk to someone. Maybe not me, take your pick. Abby, Ziva, Tony, Ducky. We're all here for you." He said.

"How long will agent Gibbs be deployed for? I need to know how long the temporary agent will be with us for." I asked him. I totally ignored his previous statement.

"3 years. 36 months. He's being stationed at the base there. He will be returning home after five. And he will be home for 3 weeks." McGee told me. 3 years. He was gone for three years.

"Do we know the exact dates for him return home?" I asked.

"Yes we do. I can get the details faxed over to you."

"Thank you. I will be on annual leave when he returns."

"Of course Jenny. You'll wanna be at home with him." McGee said.

"No I'll be on vacation with my daughter from the day he arrives until the day he leaves. I do not wish to see him or have any contact with him."

"I understand why you're like this but don't deprive him of his daughter."

"Don't you dare tell me what do special agent McGee. If you speak out of line you will be fired on the spot. Is that clear?"

"Yes Ma'am." He replied and then I hung up.
