Chapter 10

**Gibbs' POV**

I was now at the airport. Out of nowhere came SecNav.

"Jethro, just the man I was looking for." He told me.

"What do you need Sir?" I asked him.

"You're not going to Iraq. You're staying in the States but you're going undercover. Saying you were going on active duty was the best cover we could come up with." SecNav said.

I was slightly shocked. I couldn't believe this.

"The Director of NCIS doesn't even have the required clearance to know the details of this operation and so this stays strictly between us." He went on to say.

"Of course Sir. What are the details of the Op?" I asked him.

"You'll he flying with me to a secure location and once we're secure, I'll inform you. For now, I'll just tell you that you will be working with another agent. She's a red head." He said with a smirk.

SecNav was Director when Jen and I were undercover and so he knew all about my 'ordeals' with red heads.

I didn't say anything and just grinned at him. I didn't want SecNav to know that there was anything going on between Jen and I just yet, so I just reacted the way I would've done if I wasn't seeing Jen.

He guided me to his private jet and we got in. We were practically silent until we got to New York. Once we landed, we got into a car and the driver drove us to the NCIS building there.

"So the Op. What's the details?" I asked after we had sat down in an office.

"I need you to go undercover as a teacher. Here's the back story. You're married and you met your wife when you were in high school. You've been together ever since. You both teach at the same school. I need you to get close to one of the parents. She's an NCIS operative who we believe has been kidnapped alongside her daughter and is being held against her will. I need you to find out what's going on and if necessary, we need a retrieval method." SecNav explained to me.

"Okay but why do I have to married to this NCIS Agent? Can't I just handle this alone?" I asked him.

"I wanted you to have someone else with you in the field. I went for married as your cover relationship because you did it so well last time and because she's single, you're single and I wanna play matchmaker." He answered.

"Nothings going to happen. Look what happened with Jen and I. You played matchmaker, we got together and then she left me."

"There's more to that story that you're keeping from me but for now I want you to meet your 'wife' for the next however long. Leroy Jethro Gibbs, meet Katie Hoffman." He said and then the door opened.

In stepped a woman who was absolutely stunning.

She could give Jen a run for her money. The idiot sitting on my shoulder told me.

No she can't. Jen is Jen. She's the epitome of stunning. I said to myself in my head.

Sure the woman may be stunning as hell but she wasn't Jen.

"Hi I'm Gibbs." I told her and put my hand out for her to shake.

"Call me Katie." She said with a smile as she shook my hand. Her smile was so beautiful and her hand fit perfectly in mine.

Not as perfectly as Jen's hand fitted though.

"I have already briefed Katie. She knows what's going on." SecNav said.
