It All Began In Paris

Chapter 12

**Katie's POV**

A single tear trickled down my face but no one could see it since my head was buried into Jethro's chest.

"If you hurt my baby girl, it'll be the last thing you ever do." My dad told Jethro and Chase nodded in agreement.

Jethro pulled away from our hug but kept an arm wrapped around my waist.

"I won't hurt her. I'd rather die." Jethro said.

"Good to know. Now, welcome to the family. Wanna watch the soccer game?" Chase asked Jethro.

"Yeah sure." Jethro said.

"Okay. Let's head to the pub, it's just down the road. The ladies will call us when food is ready." Chase said.

"You cool with that?" Jethro asked me. I just smiled and shook my head no.

"Nope. You're staying here with me, mom and Melissa. You can go out with the guys another time. For today you're all mine." I said to him and bit my lower lip.

**Jethro's POV**

She pulled at her bottom lip using teeth. It was super sexy. I wasn't sure the reason behind her doing it though. Maybe it was to make our relationship more believable. That was the best reason I could come up with.

"You heard the boss. Sorry guys. Guess we'll have to go watch the game another time." I said to the guys.

Katie was helping her mother in the kitchen. I was in the playroom playing dolls with Melissa. She was starting to really like me and I was starting to really like her also.

"Food is ready!" Katie called from downstairs.

"Looks like it's time to go eat. You want a piggyback?" I asked her with a grin. She nodded and grinned back at me.

"Hop on." I said and crouched down. She jumped on my back and tried to wrap her little legs around my waist and her arms around my neck. I held her tightly using my arms and made my way downstairs. Once we got to the bottom of the stairs, I pretended to be an aeroplane. I made the noises and Melissa put her arms out.

"Mommy look! My new friend is an aeroplane." Melissa squealed to Katie as we got to the kitchen. Katie looked at us and smiled. Then I placed Melissa onto the floor gently.

**Katie's POV**

Of course I knew he was gonna be good with kids, he has a daughter, but what I didn't know what how my heart was gonna react to seeing him with Melissa. The sight in front of me made my heart swell.

However, I would be damned if I let Melissa get to close to Jethro. In the end Jethro would just leave us. He was with me and Melissa because of the job and once that was over there was gonna be no reason for him to stick around.

I didn't want Melissa to get attached him but at the same time, we were undercover for as long as it took and a maximum of three years. Even if it took a year, I knew that Melissa would get attached to Jethro because she hadn't even known him a day and she was already fully engrossed in him.

**Jethro's POV**

"Wow! Now honey, are we ready to eat?" Katie asked Melissa.

"I wanna sit with you." She replied and pointed her cute little index finger at me.

"Baby girl, I think that Jethro has had enough of you for one day." Katie joked.

I ignored her and crouched down to Melissa's level.
