the week flew by and each day jack's plan expanded, got more complex.since talking to millie, he now needs to go back to school. a terrible choice, really. but it was the only way the plan would work.
he hadn't filled iris or lilia in yet, which was one of the top things on his to-do list for the day. it was now friday, the 21st.
there was a knock at his office door, he suspected it was iris. "come in." he uttered, not turning away from his work. he was right, it was in fact iris. "jack! there you are!!! i've been worried sick all week! where have you been?!" she asked, slamming the door, giving jack a startle.
he slowly put his own down, looking up at iris. she had tears in her eyes?? "you know how worried i get, jack, and even though i'm mad at you for being an asshole, doesn't mean i don't worry. you can't just leave like that without telling anyone."
jack sighed. "i was working on the case." he simply replied. iris scoffed, "yeah. because that's the most important thing in the world!"
she stomped out, mumbling curse words under her breath. the door slammed again leaving jack confused. why does she care so much?
*******************************
since friday, millie hadn't seen jack around. she was kind of bummed, he seemed like a nice kid.
maybe next week though.
the final bell was about to ring & millie was beginning to grow impatient with how slow time was passing by. rowan was in her 7th period, but she was drawing and listening to music. "hey row, who're ya drawing?" millie asked, putting her chin on rowan's shoulder. the drawing was only a light sketch, so she couldn't really make out who it was supposed to be.
"oh, just an old friend." she said with a sad smile. "looks good so far." millie complimented, "thanks." she said sheepishly. millie chuckled.
she walked out of class, slowly. rowan told her to go, but she waited anyways. once rowan finally got out of the class, she smiled at millie, thanking her for waiting anyways.
"you're too sweet mills, does anyone ever tell you that?" rowan teased. millie smiled. a few minutes passed of them just walking until they reached their friends who were waiting for them.
millie walked over to finn and pulled him into a tight hug, and for a second she finally felt safer than she had all week. something just felt..... off & she couldn't figure out what it was.
