Nina was ranting about Nate's unresponsive texting. She said he sometimes leaves her messages on read. I couldn't comment on it as usual for I was thinking that it was partly my fault that Nate was acting cold towards her lately.
We're walking towards my locker; I saw Nate was busy taking something in his own locker which was just next to mine. I pushed Nina to the other hall just so I can avoid Nate.
"Hey." She complains. "You know that I'm wearing 3-inch heels today, right?"
I look down on her feet, then behind us and when I don't see any sign of Nate, I halted.
"What the heck is wrong with you?" She has her one hand on a near wall, supporting herself as she massages her foot with her heels. "You're making me regret wearing these today."
"Sorry, I-I just thought we could buy some water before class. I'm thirsty." I pointed as I saw the cafeteria sign not far from where we are standing.
"Okay, did you forget your water?" She asks looking at my bag. Glad that I put my water container inside my bag rather than the side slot.
"I did. I only remember when we arrive." I lied.
"You know." She looks my way as she stands properly, gaining a few inches taller than me with her heels on. "You've been acting weird lately."
"Me?" I chuckled nervously. "That's absurd." Waving my hand nonchalantly.
"Well... you've always been weird. That's why we're friends, right?" She pulled me close to her, she giggles and we walk side by side.
"Right." I tightly smiled at her.
We just arrive by my locker and in my relief, Nate wasn't there anymore. Nina is patiently waiting for me as she leans on the other locker, scanning her new manicured fingernails. It was newly painted with bright neon green colors.
"Is it too much?" She asks, showing me her fingernails.
"It's too bright for me but it looks good on your nails." I said looking at it, acting like I know things about it.
"I trust you. It's a bit bold but fuck them, I like it." She happily smiles. She cranes her head, looking at someone behind me. She rolls her eyes and groans; I instantly know it was Sebastian just by her reaction. "I wonder what girls see in him." I turn to look at her brother, he was walking down the halls with his group of popular guy friends. They all have that bad boy player aura radiating all over them, they'll be walking looking hot and they know it.
One girl from a group of Sophomores approach the boys, they halted the same. She approaches Sebastian and was probably talking about wanting to get with him in a party or something else. He just listens to what she was saying but, in his expression, he was bored in whatever preposition the girl was talking about. The girl was pretty, her blonde hair falls to her mid-back, she was petite and was probably the prettiest in her group of friends. Sebastian just nodded and took a paper from the girl, her phone number was maybe written on it. He glances at it once and hands it to Chris one of his friends who happily smirks, the girl didn't see it through.
"What a total douche." Nina shaking her head as she witnesses her brothers' actions. They are now walking our way. I didn't realize that I was staring at Sebastian, just when our eyes meet but just seconds after he diverted his gaze and act like he didn't even see me.
"Hi, Beautiful." Chris winking at Nina as they pass by, Sebastian immediately hit Chris at the back of his head. Even though Sebastian always fight with Nina, he has always been protective towards her especially towards his friends. "Fuck." Chris hisses at Sebastian.

Nina was running late for lunch, she texted me that she needed to talk to her Math teacher because she forgot to finish her assignment last night.
I was standing outside the main cafeteria door, hesitating to push it open but my stomach was scolding me as it groans in hunger. I would surely die of ulcer if I will keep on skipping lunch.
"You can do it. Why do you have to fear him? If you can just pretend that nothing happened." I said to myself just to help me gain confidence. I let out a deep sigh and finally push the door open, my chin up high didn't want to scan the room or else I might see Nate somewhere in the room and feel awkward about it. "He might not be here." I smiled to myself, but as I loosen up, I saw him walking towards my direction with his tray. I gulp in place; I was panicking deep inside. I saw Sebastian talking with his friends in a table nearby, I quickly walk to their direction and sat down next to Sebastian. Chris was saying something about a game he saw last night on ESPN, I pretended to laugh even though he wasn't telling a funny story.
"That's absolutely great." I continued to laugh; they were looking at me like I was a crazy person. "You're so funny, right?" patting Sebastian's shoulder as I fake laugh, he was just smirking at me.
"Hi." Nate greeted. I turn to look at him, acting surprised to see him.
"Hi there." I smiled at him.
"I was wondering if we could talk." He says. Glancing at me then to Sebastian then back at me.
"We were actually in the middle of something here." I pointed on the table.
"Oh, okay. I understand. I'll leave you to continue." He nodded at us and smiled before he left to sit with his friends.
I lean back as I sigh. Maybe I have a talent at acting, I should audition for a movie if I have time. Sebastian was looking at me smirking, his chin was resting on his palm by the table.
"What?" I ask him as I straighten my posture.
"I thought you told me to stay away from you." His smirk grew to a smile. "But then here you are, you just can't resist me. Can't you?" he leans closer to me.
"No." I push him away.
"Why don't you admit it. You like me." He touches the lobule of my ear teasingly.
"No, I don't like you." Moving my ear away from him.
"Okay, you'll soon will." He went back to his previous position still staring at me.
"What are you doing here?" Nina asks gesturing over the table I was in.
"She was flirting with your brother." Chris was the one to answer. Sebastian kicks him under the table that he cursed. "Fuck." He raises his middle finger at Sebastian. Nina furrowing her brows at me from what Chris said.
"We weren't. I just ask Sebastian about his essay." I stood up from the seat and link my arms with Nina's. "I know you're already hungry. Want some pizza or fries maybe?"
"Okay." She nodded and we went to our usual table. I turn to glance at Sebastian again, he caught me and gave me a wink. I felt my cheeks heat up and I hope he can't see it anymore.
