"Bye." Sebastian kissing me one last time before we parted ways for class. "I miss you already." He has his hands on his chest looking over me as he held his other hand on the knob.
"Go." I told him with a smile creeping on my lips.
"Do I have too?" giving me a puppy dog eye.
"Yes." I nodded. Gesturing for him to leave so I can follow him afterward.
"Okay. See you at lunch." He leaps towards me giving me one last kiss and left the room. I waited 3 minutes before leaving the empty room to go to class. I was walking my way there when I saw Joy, one of Nina's cheer mates. She approaches me with a smile.
"Hi." She greeted.
"Hi." I greeted back.
"Have you seen Nina?" She asks me.
"No, she's probably in class now." I tuck a loose hair from my bun behind my ear.
"Is she okay?" She asks with furrowed brows. "It's just she hasn't been attending practice these past few days and I wonder if she's sick or something."
"I see her in school every day. I didn't know she hasn't been going to practice." Hugging my books tighter. This must be Nate's doing, he's really messing up everything for Nina. She loves cheering so I wonder what's going on.
"Okay, if you ever talk to her. Tell her that I said Hi and that she must come to practice, the coach said she'll be kicked out if she keeps missing out." She says giving me a concerned smile.
"I'll tell her." I smile.
"Cool, then I'll get going now. Bye." I nodded. I took my phone out my pocket and quickly type in a text for Nina.
To Nina:
- Where r u? We need to talk.
****
I was waiting for Sebastian and Chris to arrive. I've been checking my phone from time to time to see if I had any reply from Nina. I tried calling her, but she always sends me to voicemail. I've tried to talk to her in class, but she keeps on brushing me off or sarcastically tell me things that were out of topic.
I feel so worried that she's slacking off on school works and cheer practice. What if she'll continue it she might not get promoted for the next school year.
I look out the cafeteria window and saw Nina walking towards the back of the school, she was alone, and Nate wasn't with her. I sprinted out the door and followed her.
"Nina!" I called out to her. She looks over me, but she only rolls her eyes and continues walking. "Nina!" I was running to catch up with her. "Hey." I finally caught up to her.
"What do you want?" She asks me annoyed.
"Did you get my texts? You didn't get back to me." I told her with a grin.
"Why do we need to talk? What are we going to talk about?" She crosses her arms over her chest.
"Um... I heard you haven't been attending cheer practice, Joy told me about it. She asks me where you were." I said with concern. "Why haven't you been going?"
"Simple, because I don't want to go." She said casually like she didn't care about it.
"That's absurd. You love it. I remember the first time you got in freshman year; you wouldn't stop talking about it for a week." I chuckled as I remember her wide smiles as she happily talks about it.
"That was in the past clearly." She commented like I said something ridiculous. "If you had nothing else to say I need to get going." She then turns around to walk away.
"Was it Nate? Did he tell you to quit cheering?" I said catching her attention as she twisted her body to look at me. "Can't you see he's getting in your head."
"He didn't tell me anything. I'm just being a good girlfriend." She said with a smirk. "He doesn't like girls in a cheer squad, so I quit."
"What? You believe him?" winging my arms frustratingly in the air. "If he really likes you, he wouldn't let you quit something that you love doing. He has to accept everything about you even if it's the thing he hates the most."
"What do you know about relationships? That you are acting like an expert which you are clearly not." She looks down on me like I was not even half of everything she is. "Oh, I forgot. You're dating my brother." My eyes widen from shock.
"I-" I couldn't react about it.
"Think I didn't know that you've been fucking my brother behind my back." She tells me with a disgusted expression.
"It's not like that." I told her.
"Please, I don't give a fuck." She waves her hand nonchalantly. "What cat got your tongue? Wondering how I knew about it? I found out from Nate, clearly, I'm glad that someone can tell me things, unlike my so-called best friend."
"I'm sorry. I tried to tell you a couple of times, I swear." I tried to hold her hand, but she moves it away.
"Is that why you keep on telling me to avoid Nate because my brother doesn't like him?" She asks me with anger in her eyes. "I thought you'd be happy that I'm happy, just like I would have been if you told me about you and my brother, but you neglected me. You made me feel that I was alone, and I have no one."
"That's not true, I'm always been here for you." I told her with teary eyes.
"You we're?" She laughs like it was a funny joke. "You forgot about me, forgot that you have a best friend. Well, maybe you had was the right word."
"I really wanted to tell you about Sebastian. I didn't expect this to happen, it just did. I was afraid that you'll be mad about it. You didn't want me to date your brother and you said it clearly. I didn't want to hide it from you, I swear. But I was scared that I'd lose you in exchange for him and I can't let that happen. You're my best friend." Tears filled my eyes that it was rolling down my cheeks. "I'm so sorry Nina, that you felt like I neglected you because of him. It was never my intention. Please, don't do this."
"I think it's too late for you to be honest with me. I feel like I can't trust you anymore." She shakes her head in disappointment.
"Nina, I'll do anything for you, and you know I will." I told her, holding her hands.
"Will you accept Nate for me?" She asks.
"Nina, he's not good for you." I couldn't do that, let her be with someone who doesn't value her.
"Then maybe you couldn't do anything for me then." She pushes my hand away. "Don't bother me anymore."
"Please Nina." She turns her back and walked away.
