Chapter 24: Stubborn

Sebastian and I decided to come to the farm after class, he said he hasn't visited Martha in a while now. I am currently playing with the bunnies, he just finished brushing Martha and she was eating now.

"Hi." He sat down next to me.

"Isn't he so cute." I took the bunny next to my face, looking at Sebastian.

"You're cuter." He rubs the top of my head ruining my ponytail.

"Do you really have to do that?" I put the bunny down and fixed my hair.

"You know, we can get married here and probably build a house just a few meters away from the barn." He pointed in a spot.

"Isn't it a little bit early for that?" splitting my ponytail, pulling it tighter.

"It's never early for that, for I know that you're the girl I want to grow old with." He kisses my cheek.

"Thought you'd want to do that with Martha." Nodding towards the horse that was eating. I smile.

"I love her, but I love you more." Giving me a peck on the lips.

"I like that." I smile at him with giddy feeling. He never fails to make me feel loved and special when I'm with him, seems that I am the luckiest girl in the world because I have someone like him to give me unconditional love.

Then a glimpse of sadness rushes towards me, why does this always happen that It ruins the mood.

"What's with that expression?" He asks looking at me, holding the bunny.

"I just thought of Nina." I said biting my inner cheek.

"That girl's head is harder than a diamond. She just doesn't listen." He says with annoyance in his face.

"What happened? Did you two fight again?" I ask in worry.

"Last night, I told her that she could have other guys she wanted even Chris but just not Nate." He informs me. "But she was so stubborn and kept arguing that he doesn't want anyone else other than that fucking psycho. Just thinking about him makes me want to punch him in the face."

"Then did she still go out with him?"

"I guess not, she locked herself in her room after we fought." He shrugs his shoulder.

"Shit." I cursed, taking my phone from my back pocket.

"What is it?" He asks as I quickly type on my phone.

"She went out with him last night." I told him about my speculations.

"But she didn't go out of the house." I was watching reruns last night by the living room as we talked on the phone.

"She went out of the window." I gave him the obvious answer he wanted.

"Fuck." Then he cursed himself. "I'd kill that motherfucker if he did something to my sister."

"We still aren't sure about it, I know Nina. She'll do anything to get her ways." I sighed as she doesn't reply to my text.

"Let's go home." He offered me his hand and help me up.

As we got to their house, we immediately went up to check on her upstairs. She was laying on her bed with her phone in her hand.

"What are you two doing here?" She asks rolling her eyes at our presence. "Are you both going to scold me again? Because I don't have time for your nonsense talking."

"This Bitch." Sebastian was about to angrily lash at her, but I stopped him.

"Hey, let it go." Calming him. "I'll talk to her, wait for me in the living room." I muttered to him. He obeys and went back downstairs. I close the door as I step inside her room. "Are you alright?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" She answers.

"Just a question." I sat next to her by the bed.

"Why are you with him? Did he ask you to talk me out of dating Nate? If that's your plan, I think you should just go. I don't need people who don't want me to be happy." She tosses her phone by a pillow and stood up from the bed.

"I want nothing else but happiness for you." I told her.

"But why do I feel the opposite?" She looks at me with teary eyes.

"I just don't think that Nate is the right person for you." I clear out the misunderstanding.

"What's so wrong about him? At first, you wanted us to be together. You even helped me go on that Karaoke night with him." She pointed out.

"That's when I haven't known him as to what he really is." I say.

"Tell me, who is he?" She looks at me. "After being with him I can say that he's nothing but perfect. He takes care of me, he's sweet and kind. That is why I don't know what he's than to the both of you that you hate him so much."

"You really went out with him last night?"

"So, what if I did? Are you going to tell my brother? Because I've been nothing but understanding towards you and then you're going to repay me with this, badmouthing the guy I like." I haven't seen her so mad like this in my whole life that I've known her.

"Nina, It's just....."

"If nothing good will come out of that sentence, please don't continue." She stops me. She walks towards her door and opens it. "I just want to be alone." She gestured for me to leave.

"But Nina." I protested.

"Leave Abby or else I'll be forced to end not just our conversation but our friendship." Those words had taken me aback. We've known each other for years and just because of Nate we are falling apart. I don't have any other choice but to leave. When she was about to close the door, I told her.

"I'm just trying to protect you."

"I'm pretty sure Abby that I am more capable of protecting myself than you." She finally closes the door.
