I am having breakfast with Dad and Mikaela before they both left today for work and practice. I am still debating in my head if I should tell Dad about me and Sebastian, I don't know how he'll react about it but he'd always been supportive in every decision I make so I think he'll understand.
"Dad." I say nervously I can feel my hands shaking.
"Yeah." He looks up to me from his newspaper.
"I need to tell you something." Fixing my posture as I sit properly on the chair.
"It seems serious. You're tense." He smiles and folds his paper. "About what?"
"Please don't get mad or disown me. I really didn't mean everything to happen and it just did, I'm really sorry if I disappoint you." I rumble in my words.
"Abby, slow down." He cups my hands in his.
"Is Abby okay?" Mikaela asks as she witnesses my rumbling.
"Yes, baby. She's fine." Dad pushing a loose strand of her hair behind Mikaela's ear as he gave him an assuring smile. "Breathe." He looks at me. I did what he told me to do, I suck in a breath and gather all my courage to finally tell him.
"Dad...... I'm...."
"The suspense is killing me. What is it about Abbigail?" He was now looking at me intensely.
"I'm so sorry Dad." He nodded for me to continue. "I'm in a relationship with Sebastian." I blurted out with my eyes shut, I didn't want to see dad's reaction, but I heard Mikaela giggles.
"And..." He waits for me to say something else.
"I like... him." I told him biting my lower lip.
"And..." he gestured for me to speak up again.
"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner." Looking down on my plate.
"So, you're telling me that you're in a relationship with Sebastian, you like him and you're sorry that you didn't tell me sooner." He repeated my words. "Nothing else?" I nodded. "Oh, Thank God!" He sighed in relief as he leans back to his chair with hand on his chest.
"You're not mad?" I ask him, staring at him.
"No." He shook his head.
"Really?" I ask in disbelief.
"Why would I be? I've started dating when I was in middle school, Dating in High School is normal. I was even wondering if you'll end up as an old maiden." He sips on his coffee smiling at me.
"Seriously Dad, it's okay?"
"Abby, I was more worried that you we're going to tell me your pregnant." He laughs but suddenly lean to me with wide eyes. "You aren't right?"
"Of course not!" I exclaim.
"Good, because I saved up a lot of money just to get you to college and I will be damn if you'll not go." He then starts telling us about his past experiences and regrets for not going to college, marrying the love of his life early that turns out to be a horrifying experience but he's glad that he has us in exchange.
"Thank you for being the best dad ever." I gave him a hug.
"You two are the most precious gifts in my life, and I'd do anything just to see you both happy." He hugs are back. "Just promise me one thing though."
"What is it?"
"Be safe. That's the number one rule in being in a relationship." He reminds me.
"Dad." I complain. "We only have been dating for like a week." I gave him a disgusting face.
"I can lend you my pink helmet. Dad says it's safe." Mikaela innocently added into the conversation. Dad and I both laughs.
****
"You told him about us?" Sebastian asks as he cups my face, he has a wide smile on his lips. I nodded. "Really? Like Seriously?"
"Yes." I said pinching his cheeks.
"Yes!" He exclaimed lifting me up and twirl us both.
"Hey." I said laughing. "Stop." I pat his shoulder and He stops.
"Like, what did he say? Was he mad? He's mad, isn't he?" He wiggles his hand and started to pace back and forth. "He didn't like me. Why would he like me? I'm an asshole."
"Hey, hey." Stopping him from panicking. "I don't want you to faint here." Teasing him.
"It's not funny." He slumps to my bed.
"Look at me." Sitting next to him as I hold his hand. He obediently looks at me. "He wasn't mad, and he approves of you."
"Really?"
"Yes, he says that as long as I'm happy he'll be okay with us being together. So, you better always make me happy." I tap on his nose.
"I'll make sure of that." He kisses me on the lip.
"He also got into that being safe talk and blah, blah, blah." I roll my eyes at how embarrassing it was. "Mikaela even offered her pink helmet as she heard Dad said that we have to be safe."
"That's funny." He chuckles. "Though thank you for telling your dad about us."
"I told you, I'm not only into this because it's a secret. I'm into this because I like you." Giving him an assuring smile.
"What about Nina?" He asks intertwining our fingers.
"Let's take it one step at a time. At least we're making progress."
"Yeah" He kisses me again. "Abby, how about we use that pink helmet now?" He wiggles his brows as he leans into me.
"Sebastian..." I stood up from the bed.
"Practice makes perfect." He strides towards me, but I ran away, we probably look like idiots people running around laughing.
