song - Home by RHODES

~"Home, keep hold of my heart
I'm trying to find a way
I'm trying to find a way,

Ooh, I found my way
Ooh, I'm coming home"~

The hallways were loud and full of strangers, voices echoing off the walls and onto the floor where Millie's feet were gently placed. She stood at the edge of the crowd, her heart pounding away anxiously in her chest, feeling more overwhelmed than she had ever felt in her entire life. She had been dreading coming back after the summer break, her limbs fidgety as she saw several students laugh and share jokes. She gulped, feeling a sense of loneliness settling over her body at the realization that she didn't have anyone to share jokes with. She had always kept to herself and that never really gave her many opportunities to make friends.

A warm hand nudged her shoulder. "You can do it."

She turned her head and bit her lip, Principle Harbour giving her a kind smile, nudging her to go forward to her next class. She had been spending her lunch times in his office, filing his books and helping him to mark tests when he wasn't busy on the phone. He had been very kind and generous to let her stay with him, coaxing her into letting him know why she was always alone and so scared to eat in the cafeteria. He had made a pact with her, forcing her to promise him that she would make a new friend and stop spending her lunch time with him, alone from everyone else in the school.

She nodded hesitantly and slowly walked forwards.

As soon as she took her first step, someone bumped into her gently and cursed under their breath. She almost fell to the floor, soft hands helping her to stay steady, electrifying the skin of her arm when they held on. She felt her breath hitch at the feeling and looked up to see a tall boy, a mess of dark curls on his head and curling down to his eyes, dark orbs keeping her stuck there unable to move as he smiled apologetically. The freckles on his cheeks lit up and danced when he grinned at her sheepishly, voice soft and kind.

"I'm so sorry, that was my fault."

Millie looked down. "No, it was mine."

Their gazes locked for the second time and whether they wanted to admit it or not, they both felt it. They could not describe it or give it a name, the unknown feeling washing over their hearts and causing their hearts to beat faster. It was not general attraction or the excitement of meeting a kind stranger, it was almost the strange feeling that they weren't strangers. It was a feeling that made them confused, bodies reacting as if they were itching to move closer, their souls desperate to intertwine as if they were crying out for each other. Most of all, it felt like they had already met a long time ago. Most of all, it felt like coming home.

"I'm Finn" he breathed slowly.

"Millie" she smiled hesitantly in return.

An obnoxious voice came from behind them, their eyes snapping to a dark-skinned boy behind Finn that was complaining for him to hurry up. The boy's posture was impatient, his voice rude and sneering as he rolled his eyes and Millie frowned instantly, her body moving away as if she knew that he wasn't somebody to interact with. Finn noticed her response and smiled apologetically, wincing at his friend's attitude.

"Sorry, my friends can be a little impatient" he mumbled.

Her voice was weak. "I would try to find some news ones if I were you. They don't have the best intentions...they don't appreciate you for who you are."

"How do you know that?" he chuckled nervously.

Millie smiled at him shyly. "I just know."

The feeling washed over them again, electricity crackling between them as if the flames between them had started up stronger than ever. They could not look away, chocolate locked on honey eyes, their souls reaching out to each other as if they could not bear to be apart. Millie could not understand why she felt like she was looking at the front cover of a book, knowing that it would be her favorite story yet.

"So I'll see you around, Millie?" Finn asked with a small hopeful smile.

Her eyes sparkled. "I think you will."
