song - Rainbow Connection by Sleeping At Last
~"Someday we'll find it
That Rainbow Connection
The lovers the dreamers and me"~It had become a routine for them, every single night of sleep broken by her arm flaying around on the bed, the sensation of falling before she was startled awake. Her stomach filled with an intense sensation like she was teetering off the edge of a cliff, only to be roused awake by gentle kisses on her skin and firm hands grasping her shaking shoulders. Her limbs were coated in a thin coat of chilling sweat, her eyes wide with surprise and confusion, as if she was trying to figure out what had been happening to her. She could not call them nightmares, no monsters or emotional distress seeping through the images keeping her up at night. But it was a feeling that she could not describe, as if she was watching snippets of someone's old life, perhaps a life that they wished they could go back to.
"Another one?" Finn asked gently, brushing the lock of hair out of his wife's eyes.
Millie nodded, trying to catch her breath as she held a hand over her eyes. "I'm really sorry that I keep waking you up...it is just so crazy. It feels so real."
He nodded against her head, gathering her up in his arms as they rested their backs against their headboard for a moment. Sometimes they did not need to exchange words, like simple nods or smiles were enough to tell what they were thinking, like they had a deeper connection than other couples. It was something that had always drawn her to Finn, how she had felt like she knew him from the very beginning, like he was always supposed to be part of her story. He would sweep her in his arms and kiss her, making every doubt and worry disappear into nothing but dust in her mind, indescribable feelings of completeness filling up her heart. He knew her better than anything but she had never loved anyone else, like their souls were intertwined before they met, like their paths were destined to cross in those hallways.
After a while, he whispered against her hair. "What was this one about?"
She could not describe the dreams, the images feeling nothing like her usual dreams, like it was an entire story that she was supposed to work out with small snippets every night. They were confusing, several moments flying through her brain before she could even process it, a familiar smile or the feeling of tears against her cheeks as she whispered goodbye to an unknown figure. The couple in her dreams did not have voices that she could recognize, no faces or clues other than their hands connecting with some kind of strange light, like the sun shone through their fingertips when they intertwined. Although she did not know what they were for, sometimes the dreams made her smile, knowing that whoever the couple were, they were desperately in love. There were images of a girl drawing flowers that were similar to the ones that she doodled in her spare time, the pair holding hands down hallways but hiding from other faces as they could not be seen together. But some of the images were full of despair and tragedy, an unknown force pulling them apart as they desperately tried to hold on, those dreams leaving Millie to wake up with a heavy heart that only Finn could cure. The dream that had played her mind last night, was the twelve dream, the image of a man's blurry face in her mind that she could almost put her finger on, his features like her husbands yet slightly distorted. He was crying, eyes red and puffy as he told his lover that he could not live without her.
"I-It was so real..." she breathed against his shoulder, "he was crying out for her, telling her that she couldn't leave him. T-That he was nothing without her and I-I just thought of you...what if that happens to us one day?"
Finn tilted her chin up, eyes full of determination. "I would never let us drift apart, okay?"
She smiled, their lips meeting in the effortless way that sparked love between their gentle fingertips. They clawed at each other, giving little pieces of their souls and hearts to each other as they kissed, lips moving back and form to an unknown melody that they had tried to perfect over the years. There was not a day where they did not show affection, their bodies always touches as if their skin would cry in agony as soon as they were out of each other's sight. Their friends and family were always making fun of their connection, calling the couple dramatic when they declared how much they loved each other and how they were each other's whole world. Millie could not explain how Finn made her feel, their first meetings filled with so much electricity as if some kind of magnetic current was between them, pulling them closer and closer despite how long they had been together. She pulled away, looking into his eyes and seeing the same dark eyes shine back at her, filled with more love than she would ever deserve.
"What if they are real?" she finally whispered, stroking his arm absentmindedly. "I-I know it seems crazy but I feel so connected to them, almost like it is something that I am meant to see, you know? What if they were really together and torn apart...I-I just..."
"If they were real, they must have loved each other more than anything."

Well, that is the bonus! I personally love it but I hope it lived up to your expectations, I tried to incorporate my best friend's idea strangest_mel11 about the dream but sorry I couldn't do the child, it just seemed forced and strange. I just wanted it to be mysterious yet focused on the connection they have and how they will never understand it. Hope you loved it and that will be the end of this emotional roller-coaster <3
Love you all to the moon and back, please leave a comment to let me know what you think of this sweet little extra chapter :)
