*November 7, 2009*
I woke up to a constant beeping noise. When I went to open my eyes, the light was to bright, so I shut them again. I tried to speak, but nothing would come out. My throat was dry. I sat for a second trying to remember what happened to me, and what I could do to get someone's attention. I snapped my fingers. I felt someone shift beside me.
I tensed a bit, "Natasha?" I heard a voice ask.
Signed to them, 'Yes, my throat is dry, the light is too bright, and my stomach is hurting.'
"Ok, hold on just a second." The voice said as it moved away from me. "Ok, I turned the lights down; can you open your eyes?"
I opened my eyes to see Coulson standing beside me with a glass of water already in his hand. He helped me take a drink.
I cleared my throat, "The boys?"
"There fine, Nat. It's nine thirty at night. Clint took Sebastian home to put him to bed. I'm going to go get a doctor and try to get you looked at and get you some more medicine." He then sat the water down and left the room. I raised my left arm and I felt the pull, so I put it back down. I raised the other hand and put it over my eyes.
"Ms. Romanoff, how are you feeling?" The doctor asked.
"Like shit. Everything hurts. I want to sleep and see my boys." I told him annoyingly.
"Oh, well...how about some pain killers?" he asked.
I moved my arm, and just glared at him. What kind of doctor asks stupid questions like these? The doctor gave me some medication with a warning that it will make me tired. Coulson then came up the side of the bed.
"Hey, I called Clint, and told him you were awake. I told him you were in pain but doing well. That you remembered everything. He wanted to rush over here to see you. I reminded him that he needed to take care of Sebastian, and that you would probably go back to sleep." He told me.
I smiled at him, "Thank you for everything. How long have I been asleep?"
"Well, we found you on the third, and it's the seventh now. When we found you; the car was upside down, the engineer was dead, you looked dead, but were still breathing. If you didn't tie that tourniquet, or call us on the EVAC..." He trailed off.
I repositioned myself a bit, hissing at the pain. "I was driving the vehicle, when I heard two loud pops. It suddenly got harder in steering. I knew the tires were blown, but I don't know how. Then another tire went. I tried to keep it away from the edge, but with three tires gone I couldn't do it. The vehicle went over the edge, and we just tumbled. At some point the engineer just went unconscious. When we finally stopped I was able to get out and pulled the engineer out. He was still breathing, and I was able to get him to wake up and sit up. I then went to get the EVAC device, and that's when I heard footsteps coming toward us. I turned and was shot. I saw the figure. He was about six foot, long brown hair, he was wearing black cargo pants and a black shirt and had a silver metal type arm." I said the last part like a question.
"Nat, you didn't have to give me a debrief now. Also, we found out the tires of the car were shot out. We also did an autopsy on the engineer before we gave him to his family for burial. You were shot with a soviet slug, no rifling." Coulson told me.
I nodded my head and started to get comfortable. "Why don't you get some sleep. I'll stay with you until your boys get here, okay?" He asked.
I smiled sleepily at him as he sat in the chair next to me. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
