Over the next two weeks I tried really hard to befriend Grayer. It was difficult to say the least. He was always playing pranks. Whether it was throwing food, squirting me with a water gun, not laying down when I read him a story or running from me when I took him shopping. I just knew that I had to tough it out, and be there for him. Now little Scarlett, she was a different story. Grayer was right she never cried. It was like she knew that it wouldn't do any good because no one was going to come. Although I think I've changed that. I put a monitor in her room, and the other into mine. And as soon as she makes the slightest noise I am up and in her room. She has taken to me quite quickly, and me to her.
Now, here I sit on the phone with Clint just telling him about my day, and asking about him and Sebastian. I had even told him about running into Steve Rogers, Mr. America. I know that I have just seen them on Sunday, but it wasn't enough.
"So, how's Sebastian's school work coming along?" I asked Clint.
My door was then thrown open. I automatically went for my gun that was under my pillow. Although seeing that it was Mrs. X, I stopped quickly.
"Nanny, in the morning I need you to stop at Tiffany's and pick up Mr. X's watch. Then I need you to Xerox the recommendation letters for Grayer's Collegiate applications. Also, I was thinking we should introduce French food into his diet. It might enhance his study of the language. So tomorrow night, why don't you make him coquilles St. Jacques for dinner, hmm?" She then turned and walked out of my room.
I put the phone back up to my ear. "Did you hear that? She works this poor kid to the bone, and doesn't even pay any attention to him, what-so-ever. Ah! She drives me insane. Oh, and don't even get me started on little Scarlett. They don't ever ask about her, talk about her, or anything. They don't care about these kids. Clint, what is going to happen to them when we finally get our targets?" I vented to him.
"I don't know, Nat. I really don't, but they are going to need someone." He answered.

The next day, I got up and did as I was told for Mrs. X. I then found out that I had to take the kids to a mommy and me class. I wasn't there mother; why was I taking them. When we got there Grayer went off with one of his friends; while I sat on the floor playing with Scarlett. It had become my goal to get that sweet girl to smile and giggle every time I look at her.
I was sitting near the other nannies I had met when I picked Grayer up from school.
"Hi ladies." One nanny said to us as she sat down.
Another started talking about how she took her kid to the doctor. "Wait you take her to the doctor too?" I asked her and the others.
"Darling I do everything. My job is a type C." She answered me.
"Type C? What's a type C?"
"Oh, Jesus. Okay, newbie." Said another nanny. "Pay attention, honey. Basically, there's three types of nanny gigs. Okay, type A. You provide 'couple time' a few nights a week for women who work all day and parent at night. Type B, you provide 'sanity time' every afternoon, right, to a woman who mothers in the morning and the evenings. And type C, the most common, you provide 24- 'me time' to the woman who neither works nor mothers. So, which one are you?" she tells me.
"I am type C, no question. Although when I started I had no idea. I thought it would be a kind of fun and easy job." I told them.
I then go on to explain that this job chose me, and have learned more about the others then I ever though I knew.
When we got back to the building, I went to make dinner for the kids. I put Scarlett in her highchair, and gave her the baby snacks. I then pulled out all of the ingredients for this Coquilles St. Jacques. "Okay, half a tablespoon of tarragon."
