Chapter 6
When Jaime got home I was already cooking dinner and he wasn’t alone. Suzie and her husband came in too
“Sorry we didn't get to meet yesterday but I’m Shawn” Shawn said shaking my hand. I smiled politely and before I could reply Suzie pulled me into a hug and kissed my cheek
“Hello darling” she said handing me a baked pie. I took it and put it in the kitchen. Suzie followed and shut the door
“Honey I don't want you to worry about Gia. She is not taking something so special away from you. I can see Tessa was raised well even though she wasn’t raised with anyone she knew” Suzie calmly said
“Suzie I am so sorry I didn't say goodbye. I know you have always been there for me and I pretty much threw it back in your face” I said feeling so guilty
“Never mind. The past is the past and I can see you are trying to mend things” she said smiling at me. I hugged her tightly and realised how much I missed her motherly ways.
“By the way Maree seems lovely” I said smiling. Suzie grinned
“She is a handful but I wouldn't have anyone else for a daughter in law for Declande. Well I mean you were the ideal choice but after that whole mess when you were younger... but Maree is a spitfire and she keeps him in place” Suzie laughed. She helped me with everything and then we sat down for a peaceful dinner. I got to know Shawn and he seemed nice enough and Tessa loved Suzie as much as I did and I was glad that she was getting to know her grandmother.
By the end of the night I was in such high spirits that I couldn't sleep. I spent the night in my old room re-living my past. I found the box of photos that I had taken and almost cried with some of them. There was one of me and the guys and then one of me and Taylor... actually there were lots of me and Taylor. I found one of when I was five months pregnant by the looks of it and I was fast asleep with Tay next to me holding me tightly and he was sleeping too. I read the back and smiled
Mummy and daddy sleeping protecting little Tessa’s dreams, god Suzie was corny. I put the photo back and took out another one of me and Dex. Dex was kissing my cheek while I was blushing and laughing. I grinned and flipped to the next one. It was of me and Taylor when we were ten and we were both posing like idiots- Tay like superman and me like a ninja. These photos made my guilt hit me like a wave. How could I desert these people when things got rough? I wondered what the guys were up to and then there was Colby was up to these days. My thoughts then drifted to Taylor’s last bitchy girlfriend- Laylah. I wondered how she was. I must have fallen asleep because I was woken up by Tessa yelling that she was going to be late. I groaned and had a quick shower before ushering her out the door. We made it just on time
“Do you need me to walk in with you?” I asked.
“No mum that’s ok. I will be fine” she kissed my cheek and then got out of the car
“See you right here at 3 ok?” I asked. Tessa nodded and I waited until she walked into the building before driving off. I drove home and finished getting ready for the day. I grabbed my resume and went job hunting. Two asked for interviews straight away while others said they would call. The ones that interviewed me told me they would call when they had interviewed everyone to let me know. I was positive after that and went to DOME to get a hot chocolate. When I was waiting in line the guy in front of me turned with his drink and stopped His blue eyes met mine and he got this gorgeous smile
