Chapter 14
I awoke the next morning early so I had a shower and changed into a blouse and a pair of nice pants that I could tuck my blouse into. I pulled on a pair of suitable yet cute black heels and then put my hair up before checking to see if Tessa was awake. She was laying on her bed fully dressed and texting on her phone
“Morning sweetie” I said leaning against the door
“Morning” she muttered distracted. I sighed and walked into the room and sat next to her.
“Want to talk?” I asked
“Nope” she popped the ‘p’ and I couldn't help but cringe. I used to use that tone when there was something wrong
“Tessa please talk to me” I begged. She sighed and sat up and faced me
“There’s this guy...” she stared to say but shook her head “Never mind”
“No! please honey I want you to know that you can talk to me about anything” I said resting my hand on hers. She let out a breath and looked at me
“And apparently he likes me... but the only thing is that he has a girlfriend” I nodded knowing where this was going
“Have you expressed any sort of feelings for him?” I asked
“No I am not a home wrecker” she said holding her hands up
“Ok continue”
“Well anyway I was at school and she was sick so he came over and asked to talk to me. He told me he wanted to break it off with her... and then he tried to kiss me” I felt my eyes widen
“Honey...” I started but stopped. I didn't know what to say because I only ever really had one serious guy interested in me in high school and that was Dex.
“I know I shouldn’t have anything to do with him...” she said softly
“Look Tessa... until he breaks it off and the dust settles you need to keep clear. If there is one thing I know about high school girls is that if they are being dumped for someone else, that poor girl has made a powerful enemy and you can bet the dumped girl has friends on her side. So just... I mean do you like this boy?” I asked. Tessa fidgeted and I knew she did
“Maybe a little. Every time I see him my heart races a little” she whispered. I couldn't help the smile
‘I remember that feeling” I said
“Do you have it with Philip?” she asked
“Not yet but I did have it with your uncle Dex” I said smiling again
“You and uncle Dex?!” she looked outraged
“I have already told you this” I said frowning
“No you haven’t! What happened?” she asked
“We broke up due to some issues and then I fell pregnant with you after a week away with your father” I said shrugging and standing up
“Come on pumpkin I need to get to work and you need to go to school” I said walking out. I grabbed my wallet and my handbag before leaving a note for Jaime and walking out the door with Tessa in tow.
I was shown around the bank before given my work space. I wasn’t technically a teller but I had an office of sorts. I settled myself in before receiving my first customer. I couldn't help my smile when Maree walked in.
“Hey!” she said happily before shutting my door
“Maree what are you doing here?” I asked
