Forgot to ask in the last chapter- Who likes Maree?

Chapter 7

When we got home Jaime had left for another trip so we had the house to ourselves

“Go and do your homework” I said ushering her off. I started making dinner when the doorbell rang.

“Can you get that Tess?” I yelled. I heard her groan before the door opening. A few seconds later she walked into the kitchen and Taylor was behind her

“Hey Soph” he said. I folded my arms and raised my eyebrows

“Taylor” I said in a monotone. He was covered in oil and was wearing a singlet and jeans. “Why are you so grubby?” I asked

“I work in a mechanic shop” I wanted to hit myself for not remembering.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. Tessa walked over next to me and took a sip of my wine.

“Oi you are too young for that young lady” I said to her. she wrinkled her nose

“I don't like it very much” she shrugged. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Taylor.

“I am here to talk”

“This brings back memories” I said sighing. I turned to Tessa “Go and finish your homework honey and do not eavesdrop. I will know if you do”

“How?”

“Mother’s intuition” I said shooing her away. When she was gone I motioned for Taylor to talk while I sliced some potatoes

“Where to start huh” he said letting out a breath “I’m sorry for what I said on Sunday” he started with. I didn't look I just kept cutting “I didn't mean for it to come out but you caught me off guard by just showing up at my mum’s house”

“Believe me I didn't want to be there” I cut in

“I didn't tell Gia about our past or about Tessa because I didn't know how to”

“Well maybe when you were first getting to know each other would have been good” I said shrugging sarcastically

“I was too absorbed in finding someone that I didn't tell her. I knew she would hate me when she found out but I kind of thought that you weren’t going to come back”

“I told you I would” I cut in. he nodded and then pulled something out of his pocket. He handed it to me. As I read over it I realised that it was the note that I had written him telling him goodbye.

“You still have this?” I whispered

“I carry it with me everywhere. I had hoped you would come back for years after you left but I gave up after I met Gia” he shrugged “Seeing you on Sunday it felt like no time had passed and I wanted to badly to erase all the bad stuff and accept the new. God Tessa is so grown up. She looks so much like you”

“She has your attitude sometimes” I said smiling slightly “And your persuasiveness’ I added. He grinned and then it faded

“Are you leaving again?” he asked

“Well Tessa is in school so I think we should stay” I said

“Plus her teacher is Clive”

“Jesus I forgot he teaches” Tay said.

“I have to ask... you aren’t seriously thinking of taking Tessa away from me are you?” I asked

“Well I don't want to but Gia keeps pushing me too”
