Chapter 19

Tessa spent a total of two months in hospital and then she was on house arrest until she was fully recuperated. She was bored but I wasn’t giving in. Giving Philip my attention wasn’t that hard to be honest and I found myself once again smitten. I was falling in love with him and I couldn't deny it. We had been on a date nearly every single night and I loved every second. I was driving home from work when my car broke down. It was the worst because I was still half an hour from home. I scrolled through my phone and called the first person I thought of. Five minutes later he pulled up to get me and I watched as my car was taken to the shop.

“Seriously Soph get a better car” Taylor said grinning at me. I couldn't help but call him first. I always seemed to be calling him when something went wrong. And he was always here for me

“I don't need one just yet. You can fix it right? Pretty please Tay?” I begged pouting. He rolled his eyes

“Fine. But you do have to pay for it though”

“How much?”

“Not money silly. I was wondering if you wanted to have one of our movie nights again. I miss those” he said shrugging. I smiled and nodded feeling like my thirteen year old self.

“Sure” I said phoning Jaime and begging him to look after Tessa. He agreed and I promised I would be home at a decent time. We pulled up to Taylor’s house and he ordered our Chinese before setting in a movie. We settled on the couch with our dinner and our drinks and watched a comedy. I found myself resting my head on Taylor’s shoulder and he absently played with my hair. It was so soothing and I found myself falling asleep.

“Soph” I groaned and snuggled deeper into the soft but solid person. A deep throaty chuckle reverberated through my pillow and I opened my eyes realising that I had fallen asleep on Taylor.

‘Oh god what time is it?” I asked frowning

“Eleven” he said.

“I have to get home” I yawned standing up and stretching.

“Come on sleepy head” he said standing and gesturing for me to lead the way. The ride was smooth and pleasant

“So Tessa tells me that you and Maree are becoming good friends” I nodded

“She is so lovely” I replied smiling “Like the sister I never had” I added. He chuckled

“What was I?”

“My brother?” I suggested. He rolled his eyes before grinning

“Not all of the time” he added almost silently. I agreed and we pulled into Jaime’s driveway. I turned to Taylor

“Thanks so much for today. I really appreciate it” I said smiling. He grinned

“Anytime. You know you just have to call me” he said. I nodded and took my seatbelt off before leaning over and kissing his cheek.

“I’ll talk to you tomorrow” I said smiling and getting out. I waited until he left before going inside and going to bed.

As the week progressed I spent an abundant time with Taylor and it felt like old times again. I loved it and I actually looked forward to our time together. I had just left Taylor’s when I got a text from Philip asking if we could go out tomorrow. I texted a happy reply before doing my work.
