Hello reader, You must be lucky, bored, or intrigued if you managed to find this humble little story. Nonetheless, welcome to the first intro of Webtoon spotlight. I'm your host, Donniedrako15, your excellent guide as I introduce to you a little jaunt through all the fantastic content of Line Webtoon. And for those of you asking what the hell Webtoon is, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE.
Though in all seriousness, for the crowd of you who don't know what your new obsession will be, Webtoon is a style of digital comics from South Korea. Line Webtoon or Naver is a website/app home to many creators and artists to make webcomics for the public to enjoy.
You can also subscribe, comment, like, and patron all these little stories for free, no less. The site got made by Junkoo Kim, who got inspired by the manwha crash of the late 1990s and 2000s, wanted to make an app to help others find their own stories no matter where they are.
Look, in general, think of it as Wattpad but better because not everyone can use it, which means no Dr. Phil fanfic to keep you up at night while questioning your existence and wondering why you don't burn my eyes out.
Primarily Webtoon is home to the English translation of many manhwas and creators from all across the world. A manhwa is a South Korean comic, and Webtoon is home to many of them. Tower of God, lookism, Odd Girl Out, Noblesse, The God of High school, and many others are great examples, so you get your impressive dose of diversity with every update. There is also a manhua, which is Chinese webcomics.
Line Webtoon also has a fast pass system to jump ahead in the story by buying unique coins. However, the story will still update just as soon as usual, so don't worry the only downside is a couple of weeks hiatus for those switching over.
A daily pass effectively makes almost all of the chapters for each story get priced and gives only two free passes to read a chapter for 15 days before it is needed to read again, with a couple of contests along the way.
Various events can also be used to earn coins for free. Webtoon has gotten exponentially more popular in its seven-year global run as of the time of this post. Recently they have recorded up to 100 billion reads annually, with more on the way probably.
Many creators have shown up on the official Youtube channel with some popular series, even getting complete animated shorts like Let's play and My giant Nerd Boyfriend. In addition, popular manwha's like Tower of God, Noblesse, and Lookism has gotten so popular that they either have confirmed or ongoing anime to them already, with more to come. Finally, lore Olympus is a webtoon that's gained enough popularity to become fully published into the world as well.
That should be about it. I will not post when I can on this story, but I always appreciate any comments. And if you wish to experience webcomics aside from Webtoon, then Mangabuddy, readmng, and Tapas are for you. But for now, I will leave you all adieu as next time I'll tackle one of the many webtoons that I read and enjoy without spoilers, of course, 😊👌.
