"Come on! If he can do it, I can do it too!"

A man sat in his cave, holding a broken piece of what supposed to be a medallion. People immediately recognized the medallion. No one would not not recognize the one and only Stygian Tiger Seal. The weapon that the Yiling Patriarch used to spread fear to the world before his death. Although the weapon was no longer full, it still looked sinister. The demonic aura that once surrounded it had dissipated over time, but the dark shadows left in everyone's memories would never disappear.

The young man seemed to challenge the impossible, to recreate the sinister seal. They were sure he wouldn't be successful, that recreating the seal was just nothing but a mere dream. However, he was sure that the Yiling Patriarch was the same as others in the past. He couldn't be some overpowered overlord since birth.

Trying multiple techniques to repair the medallion, he didn't succeed. Funny though, the one half of the medallion he acquired was still in good condition, as if not affected by the multiple experiments that he did. Although it wasn't lustrous, nothing was different from the time he received it from the Jin Sect Leader, none other than Jin Guangyao.

And the man, was none other than Xue Yang.

His beautiful eyes stared at his hands, still soft from the arduous task. Either he didn't get wounded or he healed too fast. He did not know. But one thing for sure, he knew that he was at the same level as the Yiling Patriarch. He might be overestimating himself, but too much confidence never hurt.

Right?

"Come on you stupid thing! Why can't you just fuse and form a perfect weapon?"

If not because he knew the importance of the medallion, half a medallion, he would've smashed it at the floor. The medallion wouldn't break, he knew, but it still... Somewhat stuck with him. Xue Yang hated the feeling, but he still had it in him. He was more human than he thought he was.

From his last experiences, he knew that he couldn't be described as a human anymore. His motive, his sinister methods, if not for that man shrouding everything fron the world, people would've pointed fingers at him, shouting profanities at him.

The one line he oh-so-wanted to hear was, "He is going to be the next Yiling Patriarch!"

What a wonderful line that was! People would be terrified with him, the people who thought they were more powerful, when it was not sure whether or not they actually were. When he knew he could cultivate, and those people were actually ordinary mortals, his heart couldn't help but be filled with joy.

He was severely weakened, and he only had a few materials left to finish everything. If this last attempt didn't bear fruit, he had to wait for a long time before that man resupplied him with another batch. Honestly, he did not know what that man was thinking. He was one of the revered leaders of the now four sects, yet he had planned to ruin humanity.

Such deep scheming, he liked it. So he worked with that man, even though he knew that his life was played in his hands.

After all, who doesn't like a little thrill?
