Hey guys! I know half of y'all are ready to kill me but we are barely even half way through the book 😂😂 cut a girl some slack.

Enjoy a day earlier than expected!

Jolene looked at Vincent in disbelief.

Cancer?

He had cancer? He was dying? Jolene's mouth felt dry. Shannon clasped her hands together softly nodding. "I will give you two sometime to talk." She whispered before walking away.

Vincent couldn't look her in the eye and see the hurt on her face. Jolene couldn't move or speak. She stared at him with sadness aching her heart.

The silence was deafening. Jolene's heart was pounding with controlled anger. At Vince, at God, at the world.

"So if you just died over night. You would rather me find your dead body?" She bit out.

"Jo look at me I'm moving fine, I feel fine." He responded. Jolene started laughing loudly.

"You look fine?! You feel fine? You need help dad, serious help if you think this is all peaches and cream." She spat bitterly.

"Watch how you talk to me Jolene." Vincent crossed his arms. "Really? You don't think I have the right to be mad? You've had cancer for God knows how long! And you never thought I was important enough to know?" She began to pace.

"Why aren't you in the hospital receiving treatment? Why aren't you being taken care of? Don't you want to liv-" Jolene stopped as her face morphed into despair.

Vincent faced away from her hastily. "My God. You don't want to live. You want to... be with her." Her eyes watered and her lips trembled.

Vincent covered his face with his hands and sighed loudly trying to grasp his emotions. "Jolene listen."

"I'm not enough. Huh?" Her voice came out meek and docile. Two things Jolene wasn't. Vincent shot up to reach for her but Jolene calmly stepped away.

"I wasn't enough for you to stay out of prison. Now I'm not enough for you to fight death." Jolene swallowed hard.

"That's not true." Vincent's heart ached. Jolene shook her head dismissively.

"If I was your real daughter you'd stay." She whispered. Vincent's face turned red with anger.

"I don't want to hear any of that bullsh*t Jolene! You are my daughter and you are as real as it gets!" He yelled.

"Am I or am I just Rupert's kid? The key to your own selfish wants. You never wanted me!" She snapped. A few tears falling down her cheeks.

"I was the way to my mother's heart. You didn't keep me out of your own will. You did it because she wouldn't want you otherwise." She hissed sadly.

Vincent's face was the depiction of devastation. Because he knew she spoke some truth in that last statement. He hadn't wanted a child at all. Especially Rupert's child.

But Jolene changed his life more than Iris did. Knowing she felt this way killed him. She was such a smart child he was torn to pieces knowing that she probably felt this way for a long time.

"I'll schedule you a doctors appointment. I don't want to do this right now. I have sh*t to do." Her face returned to it stoic state.

"Jolene I don't want to end this conversation like this. You're my daughter. My heart. My family." He wiped a tear off her cheek.
