We are about to see a whole new Gianni in this chapter and especially the next👀

Gianni had been going and going and going for the past two weeks. Angelo never really moved far outside of Little Italy. Vitale was no where near him so that wasn't as expected.

Jolene was also running around with Vincent and Vincenzo since the Pride took the back seat for this mission. He savored every moment he got the chance to spend with them. Because their schedules were so hectic that they didn't get the chance to be in each other's presence for so long.

And for once Jolene was the one mostly bothered by it. She missed him but she knew this wasn't just betrayal and attempted murder for Gianni. This was a lost friendship and a horrible past.

Gianni appreciated how understanding she was. Always looking out for him. Always appreciating the things he did to take care of their son.

He loved them so much. He wasn't sure he'd loved anything so strongly. He'd always loved Jolene and now she had just given him his first child. So he loved her even more. And Vincenzo was everything Gianni could've asked for.

He was currently smoothing Vincenzo's hair and rubbing circles on Jolene's shoulder as the two of them slept on the couch. His heart clenched knowing they were waiting up for him all night but he had to finish this once and for all.

"We got him Don." His new capo Luca spoke up. Gianni lifted his head from watching his sleeping son and lover before nodding and walking to the door.

Angelo hadn't been trying to set Gianni up this time. He wanted to talk. He knew what would happen for betraying a Don but there wasn't much time that he Could hide for.

He was currently being restrained by people who used to be his friends.. his family. Dreading the moment he would have to face his best friend. He was hurting from having to betray his family for Vitale but he had to find Veronica. She was his life.

The doors opened and Luca appeared placing a machete on the single table in the room. "Well thanks for the spot as the capo Angelo." He smirked. Angelo hung his head in shame.

"Our Don deserves better than a manipulative rat that could've gotten him killed and taken away from his family." Luca spat with disgust. Angelo was nothing more than a traitor to the mafia and traitors get punished.

Before Angelo could respond the doors opened and Gianni walked in with a stone cold face. Angelo bit his lip nervously, this was going to be the end. "D-Don Giordano." He stuttered.

"You have an hour to convince me not to torture you to death." Gianni spoke softly.

The two sat in silence for almost 20 minutes. Angelo didn't know how to speak without breaking down and Gianni didn't know how to speak without killing him.

Gianni sat back in his chair and lit a cigar shaking his head at the fact the Angelo still hasn't said anything.

"He raped me... so many times. You knew this." Gianni chuckled. "He did it with a smile on his face. He was really enjoying himself you know. Yes the others raped me too. But he...He was a different kind of evil. He would wait for me without the others. He would crawl in my bed in the middle of the night and kick Jolene out. I would scream and no one would help me but Jolene's little fist banging on the door to get in and save me."

Angelo gulped hanging his head in complete shame and regret. Gianni didn't deserve this.

"But you Angelo you did me so wrong. You knew and you turned your back on me you betrayed me for a rapist."

Angelo swallowed. "I-I'm so sorry Gianni! You are my bestfriend it killed me to have to betray you. You've been there for me forever and that was the last thing I wanted but I had to get my daughter back."

There was another moment of silence between the two of them. Gianni kept playing with the lighter but wouldn't say a thing. It makes Angelo nervous that he was so quiet. Gianni wasn't much of a talker anyways but this was different...it was the dark side of Gianni that Angelo had only witnessed once in his life.

Gianni looked unmoved. "Why didn't you tell me?" He mused. Angelo froze. "W-What?"

"Why didn't you tell me you needed to save your daughter. I was your bestfriend we used to be very open with each other."

Angelo sighed. "I don't know I-I was just so afraid and vulnerable. Vitale is just so powerful and I just needed it to be done quickly a-and.." Gianni slamming his hands on the table halted the rest of his words.

"Vitale is powerful?! You trust an enemy's words over your Don!" He growled. Angelo gulped he never thought about it like that. He was going to be in deep sh*t.

"You did not trust me as your superior to get the job done because you believe I'm weak. You believe I'm incapable of completing a mission. You didn't respect my name and you didn't respect my title. And you never have, our friendship gave leeway for you to disregard my status. You have taken my kindness for weakness and that was your first mistake." Even through the rage Angelo heard the hurt in Gianni's voice and that crushed him.

Gianni squatted in front of him not saying a word before he whistled and the men came through the door carrying a sleeping Veronica. Angelo gasped as tears fell down his face seeing his daughter for the first time in almost 6 months.

He messed up. He messed up really bad.

"Mio vita." He choked. Veronica's little brown eyes fluttered opened when they landed on her father.

"Papa!" She cried wiggling to get to him. "Zio Gianni!" She smiled to Gianni too. Gianni gave a small smile at his niece. "In a moment V." Gianni nipped. The guards brought her back out of the room so Gianni could do what he had to do.

"Thank you. Thank you so much!" Angelo sobbed. "I'm so sorry I doubted you I was afraid. I'm so sorry Gianni, I'll never take advantage of your kindness again."

"You won't because you are no longer family. Since I'm a father now I understand why you acted impulsively. But I at least know when to trust my right hand. You were supposed to be my right hand, but now you've taken that from me."

Angelo wiped his tears that kept flowing. Gianni was disowning him. He was going to lose his family and best friend. "Gianni you're my best friend I can't lose you. I'm so sorry."

"You have your family. And I have mine. The Famiglia has already turned their back on you as a traitor way before I did. And I won't kill you but..."

Gianni grabbed Angelo's right hand. And took the machete Luca left him before cutting it clear off. Angelo screamed out in pain. "You've lost your right hand just like I've lost mine."

Gianni untied him and kissed his cheeks. "Ciao fratello." He whispered before pulling him by the hair and dragging him across the room into two wooden doors. Gianni threw him across the ground at the feet of Francesca holding her daughter and weeping tears of happiness.

(Goodbye brother)

She gasped when Angelo was thrown at her feet and she almost vomited at the sight of his now handless arm. Many would think Gianni was cruel for what he did to Angelo. But he was much more merciful than any other Don would possibly be to a traitor but that was because even through his hurt he loved his best friend. But now he had no best friend.

Before he left Angelo spoke out again even in his pain. "Vitale is expecting me at an abandoned gas station in Marlboro tomorrow. Finish it Gianni."

Gianni stopped and nodded without looking back. Angelo wanted him to look back so he could see his bestfriends face for one last time, but he didn't. Gianni left without another word.
