Jolene was frozen next to him. She refused to open her eyes. She had stayed like that for hours. The hospital ended up calling James who broke down. Carol was devastated, Camilla was never as close to her uncle Vincent but felt the sadness and wept for him.
Gianni was playing with Vincenzo when he got the call. He made his way to the hospital feeling the overwhelming atmosphere of loss once he stepped in. With his son perched on his hip he entered the hospital room were James sat in the corner covering his face sobbing while his wife Carol cried into his shoulder still attempting to comfort him.
His eyes landed on his love and he felt his heart crack. She was frozen in spot. She didn't even flinch when he entered the room. He carefully approached her and sighed. She was broken.
He smoothed her hair but she still didn't move. "It's Alright Jolene I'm here." He spoke taking her free hand.
He felt her gently squeeze making him feel a little better. He looked at Vincent's pale cold body and shuddered. The doctors were scared to collect him but Gianni knew they had to.
But Jo refused to move. She laid there half dead like her life depended on it.
"Mama." Vincenzo whined reaching for her. Gianni tried shushing him but he whined more. Gianni watched Jolene move at the presence of her son. It was the first time he said her name.
"Mama." He called again.
Her lip quivered and she finally opened her eyes. She sat up reached her hands out to take her baby.
She moved hesitantly off the bed and cradled her son who just wanted her touch. He smiled at her and placed his hand on her cheek. She smiled before crying and holding him close to her face.
