Siren's Song

Chapter 12

Prince Aiden ~~~

I whistled as I walked along the path in the labyrinth the Stormholds possessed.

I stopped and looked up at the pale blue sky that was streaked with pink and gold.

The ball was going to start soon

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair as I made my way to the end of the labyrinth that connected to the garden.

When I got to the exit, I noticed a woman sitting in front of some lilies.

Serenity I smiled

"Serenity!" I called walking towards her

She turned to look at me, her eyes puffy and red.

My smiled dropped

"Are you alright?" I asked kneeling down in front of her not caring if I got my new suit dirty

"I'm fine." she sniffed before more tears ran down her face.

"What happened?"

"Nothing..."

"Please tell me what's making you so sad," I pleaded

"Have you ever thought that you would be with someone only to find out that it would never happen? But you find out in the most heartbreaking way?" she asked

I felt my face soften as I looked at her.

I have thought that once. I understood how she felt. It was the reason I came here per my fathers wishes. Because of her, I was here. Because of her, I was hurt. Because of her, I was broken.

I clenched my jaw as memories of how naive I had been flooded back. How foolish I was. I laughed at myself.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize this was funny to you. I shouldn't have said anything." she got up quickly tripping on her dress.

I caught her just in time. Her tear streaked face just mere inches from mine.

I leaned in closing those few inches and brushed my lips against hers allowing her to pull away if she wanted to.

Even with the trace of salt from her tears on her lips she tasted sweet. My hand traced up to her face and tangled itself in her loose hair. Her arms found their way to my neck and gently wrapped themselves around me.

I kissed her harder not having kissed anyone and experiencing this before. Not even with her. She made a soft noise as I held her tighter.

I pulled back. "I apologize."

What was I doing? She isn't even a lady in the ball. She was just a guest. She'd probably be going home as soon as her leg healed which wouldn't be much longer.

"I..I am at fault. I kissed you back." She stuttered. Her lips pink and wet.

Prince Patrick ~~~

I sulked as I led Arayuh through the labyrinth. As much as I loved my little sister I could never handle her chattering.

"Do you think all the ladies will like me?"

"I'm sure they will," I answered. They better fucking like you. But if they didn't that easily narrowed down the list.

"Do you think mommy will let me stay for the entire ball?"

"I don't know." I answered

"Do you think I should wear a pink dress like Lady Delia or a green one like Serenity?"

"I don't know." Green. Definitely green. God if she ended up like Lady Delia she'll be sent to France.

"Patrickkkkk," she whined "Don't you know anything?"

"I don't know," I smirked at her causing her to pout and stick her tongue out

"Mommy's right, you are an ass." she huffed crossing her arms over her tiny body

I howled with laughter "Tell you what, let's have a race to see who can get to the end first. If I win you have to promise not to ask me anymore questions."

"And if I win?" She asked

"You can ask me anything you want."

She grinned "Deal," she stuck her hand out and I shook it.

"Ready?"

"Set,"

"Go!" she yelled running off in one direction.

I watched her blue dress flow behind her and walked slowly in another direction.

I've been through this maze a thousand times. I would definitely get there faster.

I was almost to the end when a flash of blue ran out in front of me.

I blinked realizing it was Arayuh running towards the garden

"Catch me if you can!" she called

"Are you fucking serious?" I muttered before running as best as I could in the ridiculously tight suit I was wearing.

When I reached the garden Arayuh was jumping up and down squealing

"I won! I won! I won!"

"Yes I suppose you did."

We walked to the garden and I stopped when Arayuh pointed out something

"Why's Aiden eating Serenity's face off?"

"What?!" I looked in the direction she was pointing to see Serenity clinging to Aiden as he kissed her. From this view it looked like a passionate kiss.

I immediately felt warm. My hands clenched into fists as I glared at both of them.

When they broke apart I noticed how Serenity looked as if she's been crying.

She looked to the ground and then back to Aiden.

"Serenity!" Arayuh called

No! Fuck!

Serenity looked over clearly shocked that she was there until her eyes rested on me. I could only imagine what she saw.

Or what she didn't see that she saw in Aiden.

I turned and marched back into the labyrinth.
