Chapter 8~ Missing You

Jack's POV

I got off the plane and went to wait for my stuff. I texted Melody once I got there.

Shamrock- Hey, I just landed. At the baggage claim now.

Moxie- What a coincidence, I just got here! Heading your way now, see you soon.

I closed my phone and smiled. Finally, I can see her gorgeous face in person again. My bags arrived and I collected them and turned around. And then I saw her. Melody. She was walking toward the baggage claim, looking everywhere. When she saw me, her face lit up like Christmas lights. She started walking faster, and when we were only twenty feet apart she started running to me, jumping into my arms. I held her close, taking in her scent. Can we just stay like this forever? Eventually, we had to let go, but I could tell she didn't want to and neither did I.

"Welcome to Maine. Come on, let's head to mine," She smiled.

"Lead the way," I grinned. We headed out of the airport and chatted the entire way back to Melody's house.

"Welcome to the Lupine residence. Mi casa es tu casa. Come on I'll show you to your room." She entered the house and I was attacked.

"Melody! Halp!" I called.

"Roxy, get down. Give him a minute!" Melody laughed, pulling the excited dog off me.

"Well, that was quite a welcoming."

"Sorry! I told you that she was excitable."

"Being attacked with doggo kisses isn't the worst thing in the world."

"Yeah, but I told her to leave you alone until you put your stuff away. Naughty girl!" She scolded the dog, and Roxy hung her head.

"Come on, you're going outside," Melody said, and Roxy followed her out the door.

"Sorry about that. Come on, let's get you all set up," Melody said as she came back. She led me up the stairs and to the right.

"My room is on the left, and the upstairs bathroom in straight down the hall. I'll give you a minute to breathe and unpack and I'll see you in a few, ok?" She said, leaving me to collect myself. I took a breath and started unpacking. When I finished, I ventured downstairs. I looked around for Melody, but I couldn't find her. All I could hear was barking. Furrowing my brows, I followed the sound. I found Melody in her backyard, paying with Roxy and K-9. She noticed me and our eyes met. She's wearing her contacts today. She looks gorgeous with them. She looks gorgeous no matter what she wears or does, Sean. Dumbass.

"Wanna throw a ball?" She asked, offering a tennis ball as she walked toward me. Both dogs followed not far behind her.

"Why the fuck not?" I shrugged, taking the ball from her. I threw it and both dogs were tripping over themselves going after it.

"You seem to have settled in quite well," Melody said, sitting on her back porch.

"Yeah, I guess I have," I said, sitting beside her. She surprised me, leaning against my shoulder and sighing in content.

"I was right, you don't make a good pillow. You're a much better blanket," She said after a minute of comfortable silence.

"If you say so," I said, pulling her into my lap and holding her tight. She squeaked in surprise but snuggled into my embrace.

"I was so right..."

"Yeah, you make an excellent Teddy Bear."

"Told you we'd make wonderful cuddle partners."
