Jack's POV

Once again, Melody managed to sneak up on me, even though I had texted her.

"Hey, Jackaboy!" I turned quickly at the voice, completely caught off guard.

"Oh, hey Melody. That was fast."

"Well, it would appear that I still have excellent timing," She smirked. God, she was hot when she smirked.

"I guess so. Anyway, ready to head out?"

"Yup! Lead the way!" I chuckled and started leaving the convention, Melody in tow.

"Oh, shit!" I heard her say and I turned to her.

"What's wrong?" I asked, confused by her sudden outburst.

"Let's just hope my editor doesn't mind if I don't follow exact directions..."

"Why do you care what your editor says?"

"Because she's also my best friend, and I came here with her and another friend of ours. I was supposed to text her before I left so I could prove I knew you. I have yet to do that, and I have just decided I'm not doing that until I leave yours. I may not make it out alive."

"You think she'll kill you?"

"She puts the Wendigos in 'Until Dawn' to shame in scare factor. Trust me, I may die."

"I'll protect you," I said, pulling her closer.

"Not even John Cena could protect me from Emma. I'm so screwed," She hid her face in her hands.

"Then I'll hide you. You'll be fine."

"I appreciate it, but I'll have to face her eventually. She knows too much..."

"Wait, how exactly did she word telling you to prove you knew me?"

"Uh... I'll pull up the text, gimme a min," She said pulling out her phone, "She said 'Text me before you leave and we'll see if you're lying to me.'"

"So you could text her before you leave mine and you still technically are following orders," I smiled.

"You're a genius. And just saved my ass. How can I repay you?" She asked, grinning.

"Just don't forget about me after PAX."

"Jack, that is literally impossible. I am never going to forget any of this. Trust me."

"I trust you, Melody." It wasn't long before we made it back to my hotel.

"Are you ready to get your ass beat?" She asked, a glint in her eyes. I felt the blood rush to my face.

"There is no way a writer can beat a professional gamer at a video game," I smirked. I remembered how she annihilated all four of us last night, but I wanted to play along.

"Then explain last night," She said cockily.

"Beginner's luck," I said, brushing her off.

"Oh, we'll see about that, Shamrock. We'll see about that."

"Shamrock? That's a new one," I said, unlocking the door.

"I try to be creative. It is my job," She said sitting on the bed.

"I like it," I said after a moment. I looked for the game and found it. I set it up and sat next to her, sitting on the bed.

"You don't want me in your lap again, Shamrock?" She said, laughter in her eyes.

"Do you want to be in my lap, Luna?"

"I mean, you are comfy..." She looked away, in the direction of my suitcase, when something caught her eye.
