Melody's POV

It had been about a week since Sean and I found out about the pregnancy and we had agreed we weren't telling anyone about it until the second trimester. We knew that it was most likely we would miscarry in the first, if we were going to miscarry, and we didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. So instead, we focused on telling our friends and family about the engagement. Everyone we told was so excited and I honestly couldn't wait to become part of Sean's family. They all welcomed me with open arms, and the amount of love was honestly a little overwhelming.

But now I was back home, working on my latest book, not really paying attention to anything else. K-9 was laying at my feet, guarding me like he had been since he smelt the pregnancy on me. He refused to leave my side for long, and I was grateful for his presence.

"K-9?" I asked, looking down at the dog. He looked up at me, silently asking me what I wanted.

"Why don't we find your sister and give my good pups a treat?" I asked and he barked his approval. We made our way outside, where Roxy had free reign until it got too cold.

"Roxy, time to come in!" She looked at me and a huge smile overcame her face. She bounded up to me, jumping up and resting her paws on my stomach in greeting. K-9 pushed her down and snapped at her. The pitbull whimpered and put her tail between her legs.

"K-9 be nice. Roxy, come to Mama," I said, relishing in the fact I could still squat. Roxy came to me and gave me gentle kisses and I scratched behind her ears.

"My forgetful girl. Did you forget Mama has a baby inside her belly?" I asked, kissing her snoot. "It's ok. Mama's ok and your little brother or sister is ok. Now come on, let's give you two a treat." I got up and headed to the kitchen, the dogs trailing behind me.

"Don't tell Daddy I gave you a treat," I winked at the dogs before returning to my work.

Timeskip to January

Melody's POV

"We survived the first trimester. I think we should start telling friends and family that we're expecting," I told Sean one cold January evening.

"We'll go see my parents tomorrow after the appointment and we'll book a flight down to Maine next week. And while you're there you can check on the progress of the movie," Sean said and I nodded in agreement.

"I'm already getting firmer," I said, placing a hand on my stomach.

"I can't wait to meet our little guy or girl," Sean smiled.

"Speaking of that, we need to decide if we want to know the sex of the baby now or when I deliver."

"You are the one carrying this baby, you are the one with all the painful symptoms, you are the one who has to push this baby out so you decide everything to do with this pregnancy," Sean said, grabbing my hand and squeezing gently.

"I kind of want to know. I mean, this way I only have to obsess over either boy or girl names for the next six-ish months instead of both."

"Then we'll find out tomorrow. Ready for your close up?" He asked, picking up his phone.

"If you stop calling it my close up," I laughed. Every day since we found out about the pregnancy, Sean had been taking a picture of my entire side profile, so once the baby was born we could make a slideshow for his channel and for us to look back on. It was a simple, intimate thing and I loved doing it.

"I love you. You know that?" Sean said once he had taken the picture and I had crawled back in bed.

"You better after the torture I'm going through for you," I laughed, kissing his temple.
