Sean's POV
Months passed, and mine and Melody's relationship was only getting stronger. Sure, we had a couple fights, like every healthy relationship has, but Melody always apologized when she was wrong and I did the same. And then, no matter if we fought on the phone or in person, we'd just sit and stare up, contemplating our very existences. But both mine and Melody's birthdays were right around the corner, and it was my month to visit her. So I took a page out her book and used the same trick she'd pulled on me last July. I was going to arrive on Melody's birthday, even though we'd planned that I'd arrive a few days after. I was giddy at the thought. I had gotten back into the groove of stockpiling, but because I had so much energy at both, the thought of seeing her and at the thought of being there for her birthday, it felt even less like work than usual. Poor Robin would have a shit ton to edit, and I felt bad about that but when I'd warned him about the sudden influx of videos and why there was so many he was just as excited as I was, so I wasn't worried about it. Robin's got this. I got this.
I ran around my house, packing for my trip, making sure I hadn't forgotten anything. When I was done, and could breathe again, I called Melody's best friend and editor, making sure Melody would be home when I got there.
"Hello?" Emma answered, confused.
"Hey, Emma, it's Sean. I'm just calling to see where Melody will be on her birthday. I'm planning a surprise visit."
"She'll be at her mom's... I can text you the address. But you do know that Melody is going to kill you, right?"
"Yeah... it'll be worth it though. Would you mind letting me into her place so I can leave my stuff there and say hi to the dogs?"
"That's no problem. Call me when you land, and I'll bring you there myself."
"Thanks, Emma!"
"Sure thing. Just take care of my girl, ok?"
"Of course. You're my go-to contact whenever I have questions and Melody either won't talk to me or I can't ask her directly."
"Well, I gotta go, but I guess I'll see you soon."
"Bye!" I said before hanging up the phone.
Time skip
Sean's POV
I had finally landed, and it was almost noon. After waiting forever to collect my stuff, I texted Emma who said she had been waiting outside for like ten minutes. I made my way to her car, and we were off.
"Sean, you don't have to be so depressed, ya'know," She said at my bouncing.
"It's really not hard to see why you and Melody are friends. You know that, right?" I asked, deadpanning.
"I know. We've been friends since I was a freshman in High School and she was a sophomore. Damn time flies."
"That is a long time," I said, my eyes wide.
"About a decade, if I'm not mistaken. Now come on, in you go," Emma said, getting out of her car and walking to the front door. I put my stuff in Melody's guest room before I slipped in the dog's room to say hi to K-9 and Roxy. Roxy was all over me and even K-9 gave me a few kisses.
"I missed you guys too..." I chuckled, petting them both for a few minutes. When I was done and Roxy had calmed down, I sipped back out and Emma dropped me off at Melody's parent's house. I knocked on the door. A few minutes later, the door opened to reveal a shocked Melody.
"Sean? What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Surprising you. Did I do it right?"
"Yes, you did," She giggled, jumping into my arms. "You're still a dead man walking though."
"Emma warned me about that..."
"You should have listened. She's dead too. But I'm glad you're here. Maybe this birthday won't be so shitty after all." I narrowed my eyes, confused but I didn't get a chance to say anything because another woman spoke before I could.
"Who's that, Mel?"
"This is Sean, my boyfriend. Sean, this is the Cynicism Queen herself, Cheryl. Also known as my mother."
"Pleasure to meet you," I smiled, shaking her hand.
"I'm sure the pleasure is all Melody's," Cheryl grinned.
"MOM!"
"What? Am I wrong?"
"I'm not having this discussion with you now, or ever," Melody groaned.
"Oh come on. When have you ever shied away from sex talk?"
"When I became a grown up."
"Do I need to bring up that erotic you wrote?" Cheryl smirked.
"THAT YOU FUCKING REQUESTED FOR YOUR DAMN BIRTHDAY!" Melody glared at her mother who wasn't fazed at all.
"You wrote an erotica?" I asked, a little bit surprised. As many sex jokes as Melody makes, I'd never have expected this from her.
"I was 16, and my mother wanted me to for her birthday. It was extremely uncomfortable and really bad. It will never see the light of day again," Melody scowled.
"When did this turn into a 'pick on Melody' party and can I join?" A younger woman asked, coming from upstairs.
"When mom brought up the book I wrote for her. And if you say anything I'll dissolve your body with lye. It'll be worth the jail time."
"I'll help," A man said, entering the house from the back.
"HEY!"
"Thanks, dad. I appreciate it," Melody smiled.
"Anytime."
"Ok, Sean. This is my little sister, Viktorya, and my stepdad, Justin. Viktorya, dad, this is Sean. My boyfriend. Play nice."
"Why do you look familiar?" Cheryl asked.
"Loud, green haired Youtuber," Was all Melody had to say before it clicked.
"Ooh! I liked you."
"Green hair was a long time ago," I said looking at Mel.
"I only even watched like two videos in front of my mother because she started saying whatever you did after you. It was annoying, so I had to be careful when I watched you," Melody shrugged, and I laughed.
"No!"
"Yes," Melody countered. "Mom, don't you fucking dare."
"But-"
"No."
"Fine..."
