The Beast Inside Me

Neptune

" I AM NEPTUNE, GODDESS OF THE STARS" echoed through the forest as I saw a woman appear. She looked angelic and very majestic. There was a halo around her head and she floated in air with a cloud beneath her feet. " You dare interfere in matters beyond your species, your kind, your existence?! " Neptune asked me. "Um, what?! " I replied. "Oh my child, you have no idea what you have gotten yourself into huh? How dare you touch my light sphere?! Do you have any idea what you could have done!?" NEPTUNE said as dark clouds began to form around us, and out of nowhere a thunderstorm. We were so scared,we couldn't believe what was happening. " please Mrs. Neptune, have mercy" Sophie begged and then the sky cleared and the storm calmed. "Um, Neptune? Well for like a week plus now, I've been turning into this beast. I just wanted to know if you had anything to do with it" I asked. "Oh yes, I almost forgot. It's happened already huh? So how are you coping my child?" NEPTUNE asked smiling at me. I got on my knees and begged, "please Neptune, I'm so so sorry. Please make me fully human again. I'm sorry for messing with your light thing, I beg you, please turn me back " I said as I teared up a little. Neptune had a very long laugh, " oh so you think it's going to be that easy? You have no idea the consequences of what you did. If it went totally wrong none of us would even be alive! I think I need to tell you girls a story. Ready? " Neptune asked, "YES!" the three of us chorused.
     " Long ago, before this town even existed, before even America existed. Before any of your ancestors walked this earth. I had a sister, " Venus, the goddess of the sun". She was the strongest in the galaxy, I absolutely adored her. Even though I adored her we always had a sibling rivalry, we both did our best to impress the galaxy and in some cases Venus took things too far. If there was one thing about Venus it was that she could not control her emotions and most of the times let out her anger in uncontrollable ways. But one faithful day, I was selected by the galaxy to rule for the next century. I was so happy, and so was most of the galaxy. But Venus on the other hand was furious. She knew she was the strongest and saw no reason why she was not selected to rule. In her rage, she stormed my coronation and destroyed everything. There was complete chaos, she was on rampage and nobody could stop her. Five other goddesses from the galaxy came in to help but they all escaped barely holding on to their lives. I knew that if there was anyone who even had a chance of stopping her was me so I tried to stop her, but she was just too powerful. Venus had already devastated planets by her display and then I realized that if I could not stop her, I had to somehow restrain her. So all my energy along with the five goddesses and some other energy sources through out the galaxy came together and formed a light sphere and trapped Venus inside. This was the only way we could stop her so that is what we did. After my heroic gesture I thought I would be welcomed back with honour, but to my surprise it was the complete opposite. The galaxy blamed me for all the planetary devastation and because of this, I was stripped from my position as the Guardian of the galaxy. This completely broke my heart and angered me. After all this I still realized that I had to find a safe place to keep myself and Venus safe from dangers that lurked in the galaxy. And so I came to earth and started to live amongst humans for centuries."  Neptune concluded her story.
     "WOW!" the three of us said. "silence you fools! " Neptune ordered. " I hope you now know why that light sphere was so important to me? If you did even worse, Venus could have escaped and all of humanity would be wiped out instantly! " Neptune said. "I'm so sorry Neptune, so.. now can you please turn me back to human" I pleaded once again. But Neptune made it clear to me that I couldn't have done something as dangerous as that and go unpunished and that me being a beast was a punishment for my sins. I begged and begged Neptune if there was something I could do to go back to human again. " I would do anything " I told Neptune, "anything huh?" Neptune said smirking, till today I still wish I never said that. Neptune offered me to either spend the rest of my life half beast or do the task she had prepared for me and I would be human again. At first when she said this is was beyond happy but when she told me the strings attached I wanted to back out. Neptune told me that if I wasn't able to carry out the task she had for me before the deadline that she would trap my soul forever. The thought of it gave me chills, Sophie and Lauren adviced me to stay a beast for the rest of my life because the other option was too dangerous.
     I was always a bit of a daredevil and I wanted to take my chances so I asked Neptune what the task was that she would want me to do and she replied saying " all you have to do is find eight crystals for me, I want to make the perfect necklace". " that doesn't sound so bad" I said brightly. I was just about to accept but then Neptune told me the other conditions. "so do I get a map or something? " I asked, " oh dear, did you think it was going to be that easy? You don't get a map, you just find them on your own. They are light blue and they sparkle, very tiny crystals. Really easy right?" Neptune asked. I had no idea how I was supposed to find something without a map, and the fact that she mentioned they were very tiny just killed me. " just like forget about it girl" Lauren told me. I knew there was a very high possibility that I wouldn't be able to do this. But in my life I had never given up no matter the circumstances so I didn't see why I should give up this time, so I accepted. Neptune seemed so happy that I accepted the challenge, she was probably happy that she would get my soul but I wasn't prepared to let that happen.
     By the time we were done with this it was already almost dark so we had to rush back to campus. The three of us went to bed each with a different vibe than the usual. Sophie and Lauren were worried, while I was also worried but just lost in thought. There was still so much I didn't understand, so many questions I wanted to ask. I still had Summer on my mind and the whole crystal thing really baffled me. I didn't even know where to start looking, at some point I just wished it was some nightmare and that I would wake up eventually but it wasn't. I was right about Dreamland being weird and creepy and along the way I was going to discover a lot of secrets about the mysterious town and also a lot of other secrets. My life was in for the rollercoaster of a lifetime.
