The Beast Inside Me

Miranda

     Well,  it had been a week since the whole Constantine thing with the other beast and all the craziness. My life was slowly going back to normal ( in a sense) although I still had tons of questions to ask. I hadn't found a crystal since then and I did all I could to protect the one I had. And yes Lance and I were still separated, it still hurt but I got over it quickly. But there was something strange, Lance and I had stopped talking but all of a sudden I started to feel like he was stalking me. I would be talking to the girls and I would just see him at a corner staring at me. Even during lectures he would just stare at me, to be honest it was kind of creepy but I didn't let it bother me. I also remember, there was this time that Lance came up to me and had a word with me for the first time in a very long time. He stood in front of me and stared and then he asked, " your earrings, how long have you had them?" , " um, since I was a little girl" I told him and then he left.
     I was taking a stroll around college one day when I bumped into this girl. She had long blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes and was well relatively short in height. She was pretty and looked like someone out of a fairytale book. " Oh, hey. I'm Miranda, I'm new here" she said, " oh, cool I'm Marabella but you can call me Mara" I told her. She was obviously friendly but shy at the same time, I wanted to make friends with her but I kept it in mind that she was probably not real so I needed proof. So I told her to come with me and walked out in public with her and people actually did notice her this time, boys especially. I mean, she was really cute so it wasn't a surprise most of the guys wanted to hang out with her. From my understanding she was new at school and was going to stay at my hostel. I introduced her to the girls and we all seemed to get along.
     I was still so desperately searching for the crystals but there was once again no progress and it really sucked.  So there was this time Miranda came over to my dorm just to hang out with me a little. We were all talking and then Miranda got up and for some reason went to my wardrobe and started looking through it. " Oh, my! Where did you find this Mara? " Miranda said with a look on her face I had never seen before. She looked like she had discovered the secret of the universe! Miranda found my crystal and she held it in her hand. " HEY DROP IT! " I yelled at her, " wait but, but" she stuttered as I grabbed it from her hands. " that's mine okay? " I told her and I kept it back in the wardrobe. After that display a few minutes later Miranda said she had to leave, I wanted to ask why but I didn't object her because it was already almost 12 and I was gonna transform soon and by the way it was late. After she left, I don't know why but I felt like I should follow her. It was already after 12 and I was a beast, but I put on my black hoodie and set out without the knowledge of the girls.
     I looked for her for a while and due to my newly discovered amazing sense of smell I found her. She was outside of school premises but not too far, she hid behind a building. In her hands she held some kind of device where she spoke to someone through. " Jullian, I think I might have found the sixth person. She's at the school, I felt some kind of strong energy around her and more importantly, I found one of the jewels in her room! " Miranda said. " what does she look like? Tell me her details now! " the person she was communicating with said. " Um, well... She's an African American, she's twenty years old. Her complexion is like, light chocolate. And her hair, she has a lot of hair like an Afro and ties a head scarf around her head at times, she also wore these star shaped earrings all the time . And most importantly her name's Marabella! Can't really remember her surname right now, that's all I can remember now Jullian" Miranda said to the person. And that's when it hit me that Miranda had just described me to this person and obviously Miranda wasn't a regular person and she probably knew I wasn't human. I had no idea what Miranda and this so called Jullian wanted to do to me but I knew I had to stop it. Before I knew what was happening I saw Miranda magically turn into a fairy! " WHAT THE?! " I said to myself as I saw Miranda slowly flying away. I couldn't let this happen, I had to stop her so I went chasing after her yelling for her to stop but she ignored me and that was when I got a hold of her leg and sent her crashing to the ground.
     " Ouch, what was that f.. AHH" Miranda said as she saw me standing over her. " I need some explanation for what just happened, Miranda " I told her. " Mara? " she asked, " no, Pinocchio" I said sarcastically. I demanded for some answers and after a lot of negotiating she agreed to help me out. " Hold on to me" she said and as I did without warning she just flew off. She was moving really fast, I was kinda scared I would lose my grip on her. Well after some time we landed at the top of some building and that's when she started to explain. " Look, Mara, I know at some point you might have thought you were the only one. But you're wrong, there's tons of us all over Dreamland. There's fairies, mermaids, ghosts, vampires, elves and werewolves! Just like you. Dreamland is way far from normal, you might not even know who your best friend, teacher, boyfriend or girlfriend actually is! Look, this town is cursed, and it's been this way for so long. I became a fairy like ten years ago! All I did was take some fruit for some tree and look what happened to me. There's so many ways people's lives have been transformed, it can be just a silly mistake and your life's gonna be changed forever. Most people stay this way for the rest of their lives while some die or are killed by the darkness that lives in these woods. We found out that there's somehow, someway we can remove the curse from this land and the only way we can do that is if we assemble all the crystals together. That's what some other creatures and I have been trying to do for so long now. And when I found that crystal in your room I wanted to take it but you stopped me. Why? And how did you get it? " Miranda asked me. " Well, there was this day, I touched this light thing and then I started turning into a beast every day by twelve. Well then I found out that light thing belonged to this Neptune goddess lady and well she cursed me for touching her light thing and then she made a deal with me that if I found all the jewels I would be human again. So that's what I'm doing " I explained to her. " WAIT, NEPTUNE?! " Miranda asked me and I said yes. "OH MY GOD! " Miranda screamed, I was lost at that point. " Mara, it's time you meet them" she said, " meet who? " I asked but Miranda just gave me an evil smile. " What?! "
